This was a regular favourite of mine when I lived in Melbourne years ago. I recently returned to Melbourne with some girlfriends for a girls' weekend away and we had dinner here one night. We were not able to book and the service was pretty bad (we lost count of staff members who walked past us and didn't seem to... More

Cookie has an extensive range of craft beer both local and imported, you will have fun trying out all of the different flavours. The menu is an interesting range and delicious, I had the sticky rice and spicy noodles. The rooftop beer garden is amazing with an outdoor cinema and fantastic views of the city. One bad thing is that... More

I absolutely love Cookie and everything about it. From the quirky decor to the friendly staff and delicious food. I have been here a bunch of times and recently went back with one of my best friends for drinks and dinner. We are both Pescatarians and the menu perfectly caters to this. The menu is quite overwhelming but the staff... More

On a recent Friday night the resturant was packed by 6.30pm, so we went to the upstairs bar. I'd been to Cookie before, so had high expectations. However, they were not met. We ordered three dishes to share. The calamari was OK, but l wasn't sure if it was meant to be warm or a cold salad. The massamun curry... More

The perfect location, great food and friendly staff. I go back regularly however always feel that somethings missing. Perhaps it that the portions are 10% too small and you simply have to order a dish or two more to make it work or go away unhappy. If you eat here be abundant when ordering and you still might need dessert,... More

An incredibly noisy restaurant that only allows two hours to eat your meal, its not the place to kick back and do a leisurely dinner. Service was ok but it was hard to hear the waitress over the general noise. I had calamari that closely resembled rubber and was so thin it was mostly batter. Drinks very expensive but if... More

A must go! Ridiculously tasty. Broad menu with too many choices. Had the beef brisket and snapper. OMG. it's what culinary dreams are made of. Delux. Cocktails are a little pricey. Try the roof top bar later for ongoing drinks and a funky vibe. Thorough recommend.

We really enjoyed our lunch taking a punt an ordering something out of our norm. The Mussel Pancake, Carrot, Cucumber & Cashew Salad was a standout, while the Pork Platter – Spicy Pork Sausage, Pork Belly, Pork Salad, Relishes was hands on and very enjoyable. The range of beers and drinks in general had us settling in for the afternoon.... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
