Fantastic place to stop for lunch! The menu is very large. The staff is very knowledge and attentive. Some of the best food I had in Melbourne. I had the snapper and green curry with papaya and ordered rice. Would totally come back again. Only issue I had: Wine menu is incredibly large and therefore very intimidating. I picked it... More

Having discovered Cookie eight years ago this is always somewhere I come back to. The food is amazing and the selection of beers is incredible. I love yhe plates they use. Its like being at Grandmas. And wait for the surprise whem you receive your bill... it comes in something very enchanting. Good food worth a visit. In summer months... More

Attentive bar staff, decent range of beers and plenty seating! Twas lateish on a Wednesday when we went so it wasn't massively busy! Pretty standard Melbourne prices (i.e. $12-14 for a pint!!) which as a Brit feels pretty punishing - stops you drinking too much though 🙂

Not having been to Cookie for a while, revisited and was pleased they still did Thai. Small medium and large dishes on offer was a bit confusing from their previous tapas size but managed to work it out eventually. As Delicious as I remember! Beer is always great - fantastic selection. Will be back hopefully sooner than later. Cheers !

We stayed close to the restaurant and thought we would give it a go. Really good Thai food with a very large menu making a decision on which dish to have is very difficult, but fun. Very good atmosphere if only just a little bit too dark.If you are a fan of Thai food this is hard to beat the... More

Upstairs in an innocuous building in Swanston Street was this amazing Thai restaurant. It was quirky in that used children's story books as its decor and theme. The food selection was large and the wine and beer selection huge (perhaps too much choice especially with the drinks!). Our food & wine choices were excellent and we had a great evening.... More

I love this place, it's central location, the vibe and of course the food. I had the Betel Leaf Cocktail and the Fat Rice Noodles with Duck which were recommended by our waitress and loved them. When it came to dessert we asked her opinion again and one of the desserts she recommended highly was the Sticky Black Rice with... More

Fantastic little gem, staff are always delightful and full of information about the beautiful selection of food on the menu. Be sure to book if planning a visit over he weekend so you don't miss out! We go every time we go to Melbourne and haven't been let down yet! It isn't a cheap feed, but the food is extraordinary... More

Definitely recommend for great fusion Asian food and fun vibe. Also visit bar on roof for amazing views. Wine list is pricey but food worth it.

It was a rainy evening and we were on the wrong side of Swanston Street - but we eventually found Cookie (not a lot of shopfront - just stairs up to a huge space called Cookie). The waiting staff were extra helpful and friendly and the meals were excellent. We will return to Cookie again.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
