Dined here with 2 adults and three teens on our last night in Melbourne and we weren't disappointed(although all of our food experiences in Melbourne were fantastic!) The waiters were particularly attentive and very good at recommendations. Our waiter had very good menu knowledge. We did the full three courses; entree, main, dessert plus wine. Wasn't the cheapest meal we... More

We shared an entree and main and for us it was enough. The entree was great, the salmon pasta main excellent and the wine although pricey was very drinkable. The restaurant itself is really nice - you could be in Rome! All in all a bit pricey but well worth going to.

This little gem is not only a Melbourne institution but one of my favorite little restaurants in glorious Melbourne. The Italian waters greet you in Italian at the door as you enter a cosy wood paneled restaurant with a ton of atmosphere! It's not cheap but the traditional Italian fare is simply delicious and great wine list! I was eating... More

When ever I am in Melbourne I make sure I come and visit this institution. Great food and ambiance. You forget you are in Melbourne and believe you are in Italy. Try the calamari and the gnocchi. To die for.

Hubby took me here after a movie at nearby Como tonight. No booking but they made a concerted effort to squeeze us in. As soon as a larger area was avail they offered to move us but we were quite happy where they'd put us. Food came out incredibly quickly, almost as if we'd preordered. I'm a vegetarian so they... The all-male waiters do an excellent job of making customers feel special. This is a romantic, Italian restaurant. You hear the word "prego" and you gladly feel that you are not in Melbourne. The waiters have personality, a sense of humour, and kindness. I am a vegetarian who loves the quality beetroot gnocchi and the caprese salad. The menu changes... More

On a cold and wet Melbourne night, stepping inside Caffe e Cucina is an instant pick-me-up. Darkened walls festooned with photographs and awards, beautifully laid tables and soft lighting suggest the warm ambience Cucina has on offer. Unable to decide between the dishes and the extensive wine list we offered for the 3 course set menu and matching wines. The... More

Don't expect pizzas and Chianti bottles here. This is a genuine piece of Italian cafe life in Chapel St. The tastes are great and the service is professional. Wonderful cosy atmosphere. A real antidote for the soulless echoing chain eateries proliferating in the strip.

We went here in July last year and based on that experience went back for dinner again in April. We were terribly disappointed with the food. Our entree - an Antipasto platter (see photo) looked and tasted like it had come straight out of the Woolworths deli. Our main meals had one overpowering flavour - salt. The desserts were no... Staying in Chapel Street

Neighborhood Profile
Chapel Street
Seek and ye shall find! Prahran is a treasure hunter’s paradise of vintage stores, upscale boutiques and emporiums. Chapel Street is a one-stop shop with specialty stores selling just about everything. The famous Chapel Street Bazaar has so many curious and vintage knick-knacks that you will feel as if you're in a huge and busy museum. By contrast, at the northern end of Chapel Street, South Yarra and Windsor cater to high-end designer labels and exclusive boutiques. The community flocks to Prahran’s organic markets as a Saturday ritual, while art and film students leaf through vinyl LPs on Greville Street. The gay community also has a strong presence here. Prahran’s heritage buildings like the Reads Emporium and Prahan arcade offer a grand sense of scale and history. No matter your interest, come feel the pulse of one of Melbourne’s most loved precincts.
