Twice now I have absolutely enjoyed some great food here, welcomed by staff who are professional, friendly and sincere. This combined with a nice atmosphere made me feel at home and I will certainly be back to add to the experience so far!!

Went here for a business meeting lunch and we were able to have a fantastic private room on short notice upstairs for a VIP speaker. Firstly none of that was an issue. The two waitresses who managed our room were fantastic. We finally got around to ordering the food and oh my god it was good. I had carpaccio and... More

Enjoyed a very pleasant lunch here. Staff were pleasant, attentive and friendly. The carpaccio starter was lovely as was the kingfish served as a main. My only disappointment was the mussels served with the main 2/3 were full of sand. Wait staff were apologetic and returned with half a dozen replacements but by then my sand consumption had maxed out!... More

We chose a pre-Christmas get-together here because it has excellent food, but also an easy atmosphere so people can relax and enjoy themselves in a group. We were not disappointed. All three courses were really well prepared and presented, and the service was friendly and efficient. All was as it should be at this price point.

The show we were seeing started at 7.30pm so we thought we would try the pre show meal for the first time. we were not disappointed! Very relaxing venue & wonderful (young) staff who were attentive without being intrusive, which is a very important skill. Food was excellent. The three course meal was served promptly without us feeling rushed &... More

We had a wonderful experience dining here last weekend. We had the private dining room booked and the service was excellent! Our lovely attendant seamlessly accommodated all our needs for the night. The food was also perfect, with one dining companion's severely restricted dietary requirements were cheerfully accommodated for. I would highly recommend Bottega.

We had an early booking before seeing a show at 8pm. The staff were fantastic and friendly, the food delicious and not too expensive. We were easily in and out before our show. Table of 5 people and no one was disappointed with the food and the varied menu appealed to all of us. I would highly recommend for a... More

A pleasant place to eat in central Melbourne. Good Italian food - without being fantastic. My wife's special pasta dish was tasty- but she wouldn't choose it again. My swordfish was slightly under-done to my taste and was complemented with zucchini - giving a well balanced meal. We had a side dish of roasted cauliflower - which didn't quite hit... More

We found Bottega by accident and were pleasantly surprised. Bottega is conveniently situated for a pre theatre dinner at the top end of Bourke Street. The service is prompt, friendly and efficient and the Italian cuisine is very good at reasonable prices: especially the two course theatre menu.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
