Was lucky to get last minute seat at theatre so looking around for quick dinner and found this wonderful place. Half way up the Hill of Contentment this classy understated restaurant is a real find for theatre crowd. Had a delicious starter seared pork belly and radicchio which melted in your mouth. The charcoal pork and bitter radicchio balanced by... More

My partner and I decided to try out this restaurant as it had been voted in the top 5 category in Melbourne. This is an understatement, from the moment we walked in we were treated as royalty. The dining room was beautifully simple and the wait staff were some of the best we have come across. The food did not... More

Two friends were staying at the Windsor for a couple of nights to celebrate her birthday and asked if we wanted to join them for a meal at some point. So, we used some of our Marriott points for a Monday night stay and suggested meeting at Bottega for lunch. We were welcomed by owner Paul and directed to a... More

Atmosphere very nice, a good menu, sufficient wait staff to attend to customer needs. All entrees lovely, the lamb dish enjoyed by our friends, the pork neck not sufficiently cooked and was hard to cut into. A nice place to take visitors to Melbourne to and we have been a number of times.

We visited on a balmy Melbourne Spring Evening which set the mood for a lovely dinner. Very impressed by the staff and service which was attentive, knowledgeable and willing to bring us a sample of herb listed on the menu that we hadn't heard of before (yarrow). Our group of three ordered different entrees and mains and none of us... More

We went last week and had lunch for my birthday. I'd been lucky enough to win a voucher at a fundraiser so it was a bonus. (A big shout out to the restaurant for the generous donation to the NBCF!) It was a quiet service with only 10 covers during the time we were there. We sat in the window... More

Went there for a birthday, special treat for my daughter who loves Italian food. Nice...but overpriced for what it was. I had the Flinder's Island lamb shoulder which was fatty. Great service from the lady.

Had the pre theatre dinner menu with 3 courses for $55. Good value, prompt service and good affordable local wines (try the surprisingly good red from Sunbury). Eggplant parmigiana was delectable. Gnocchi above average (not for people who dislike blue cheese) and an interesting, white delicious, take on Tiramasu. Exceeded expectations.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
