The dumpling signage and pleasant facade attracted us to the venue. We ordered various dumplings, a dumpling salad (largely spinach leafs) and some spring rolls. The spring rolls were fine but the dumplings were so disappointing for a restaurant heavenly promoting them. We ordered the soup dumplings but all of them had burst before they were eaten (tragic), the chicken... More

Well..... highly recommended by my friend as having fantastic food. It does! Service? Could not have had less staff to take care of people. Tables not cleared so we couldn't sit down. Then when we finally sat there were 2 tables not cleared for the entire duration of our meal! We waited too long for everything. Staff actually running past... More

I came her with 17 others for a granddaughter's birthday dinner. Very nice atmosphere. Helpful, friendly and attentive staff. We had arranged a $35/head dinner as it would be impossible for all of us to order separately. The food came steadily and I ate far too much. All the quality was good EXCEPT the calamari tentacles which were tough. Probably... More

This is a buzzy little place that does an excellent yum cha. Of course there are lots of variations of tea but that's not my bag. A light beer is an excellent companion to the meal. Whilst busy, you can have a good conversation. My favorites are the ginger press and salted calamari , but there is something for everyone.

Shop all along Chapel Street or at Prahran Market and take a break here. This Branch feels more well organised than the City one we frequent because the staff here are extremely attentive and friendly even though it is often packed to the rafters in here. A westernised menu will see a hybrid crowd of Asian and western diners with... More

We loved our visit here first time round- so much so, we ended up returning only a week later to have a second attempt at the menu! There is a gentle, calm atmosphere to this busy little place, and the informal setting makes for a great place for catching up with friends. The price certainly won't break the bank either.... More

It is not cheap at an average of $8 per dim sum serve. But it is a fair price to pay to be “trendy”. All their dim sum’s are well prepared to standard and they do have unorthodox products such as kale (in a Chinese restaurant?!) or deep-fried octopus (not calamari). The rice paper prawn roll with sesame is excellent.... More

Okay we were a party of sixteen and patient at that lol Really slow service, had to ask twice for drinks menu - they couldn't find a spare one - great dumplings Peking duck Rolls, calamari but some of our ordered dishes didn't come and we had to follow up. I would recommend maybe a couples visit but not a... More

Service was incredibly slow in every aspect, booking, getting seated, providing menu and then bringing food and drink. Had to find then follow up staff multiple times. Although they restaurant was busy, the staff didn't look busy but as they weren't checking tables it was hard to get their attention. Food and beverage quality very good, though one dish was... Walking in to the restaurant, a small table of tea greets you. Sampling some of the house teas is a great way to walk inside this Asian fusion restaurant. The dishes are great for sharing. The menu is not as authentic as you would expect, but the flavors are nice. The upstairs cocktail bar was a nice treat as you... More

Staying in Chapel Street

Neighborhood Profile
Chapel Street
Seek and ye shall find! Prahran is a treasure hunter’s paradise of vintage stores, upscale boutiques and emporiums. Chapel Street is a one-stop shop with specialty stores selling just about everything. The famous Chapel Street Bazaar has so many curious and vintage knick-knacks that you will feel as if you're in a huge and busy museum. By contrast, at the northern end of Chapel Street, South Yarra and Windsor cater to high-end designer labels and exclusive boutiques. The community flocks to Prahran’s organic markets as a Saturday ritual, while art and film students leaf through vinyl LPs on Greville Street. The gay community also has a strong presence here. Prahran’s heritage buildings like the Reads Emporium and Prahan arcade offer a grand sense of scale and history. No matter your interest, come feel the pulse of one of Melbourne’s most loved precincts.
