This cafe is in a beautiful building and the decor is great. The menu was quite pricey but we had heard good things so wanted to check it out. Staff weren’t particularly friendly at all - extremely strict on rules (not removing an item from...a dish, no split bills, no substitutions) that just made the experience a bit yuck. Dishes weren’t served hot either. Wouldn’t be back.More

Delicious smashed avo brunch - great ambiance in the cafe too, and staff really friendly. Lots of ppl from surrounding offices coming in for their coffee too which is definitely a good sign!

This cafe/restaurant is my local. I enjoyed a relaxed summer afternoon sitting on the outdoor patio with a glass of Rose - a very nice environment. I haven’t eaten here yet, but the dishes I saw being served to others looked really good. I definitely...will come back to sample more. The menu is not extensive but looks good, to suit a range of tastes and different sized appetites. Service is very good, that’s a big drawcard for me to return. Thank you.More

This place is gorgeous. You will be dining in the cutest heritage listed cottage that has been wedged in between two massive high rise office blocks. The menu is small but what is on it is really, really good. I had the most perfect blueberry...hotcake. It was HUGE, full of blueberries and absolutely delicious. It was so big I couldn't finish it, which is massive for someone like me because I love my pancakes, waffles and hotcakes! The coffee was excellent. Service was efficient without being particularly friendly. The table next to us had to crab scramble which also looked amazing. I would love to come back here again next time I'm in Melbourne.More

Tucked amongst the high rise offices and apartment blocks near the Domain, Kettle Black is a popular and nice place. Not a huge variety of meals on its menu but what is on offer is very very tasty and a piece of artwork a shame...to eat. Prices a little on the upper side but attentive service, as mentioned beautifully cooked food and pleasant atmosphere.More

Heritage listed terrace house . Beautiful frontage . Sunday brunch so very busy and had to wait a bit before ordering . Menus did look haggard . In these current times probably would do with newer ones as you don’t want to touch. Probably not...enough smiles . Service can be improved . Ordered the avocado toast, barramundi, chicken burger and miso pork noodles . Presentation was photogenic and colourful. Taste wise was good . However barramundi was on the small side and potatoes were hard not cooked through snd skin was not crispy.More

Although table service was an area of opportunity on the day, the chilli crab scrambled eggs were absolutely sensational and overrode any negative I experienced. Good amount of heat and reasonable portion. I’ll definitely have again!

No customer service. Arrogant and dismissive. Waited 20 minutes to buy pre made sandwich whilst there were several staff free and available to serve. When politely asked - apathetic & dismissive. Just walked across the road where serving customers is still a thing. Don’t bother...unless you have the luxury of waiting half hour to be served for takeaway PRE- MADE stuff and feel like your customer doesn’t matter.More

I have lived in the area for years and supported this venue when it opened but stopped going there when the service went downhill. I tried to give them another chance recently and pre-ordered online coffees and noted the 40 min delay, I turned up...5 mins before the order time and was still waiting 15mins. I asked the staff where my coffee order was and was told that they were "waiting until 11:25 am to process the order" (by that stage it was 11:35 am). The coffees were good but not hot. Because of inconsistent service at Kettle Black, I now prefer to go across the road to The Crux & Co.More

Great food and service. My friend recommended me this place for brunch and I was impressed. I ordered avo on toast with poached egg abd goat cheese and was amazing. Melbourne does something else even with a simple avo on toast. Exceeded my expectations. Also,...the decoration is beautiful and it is very close to Botanical Gardens, perfect for a walk after brunch.More

Three of us just had breakfast. Coffee was nice, the eggs Benny and the Avocado dish delicious. I had the hot cakes - but they weren’t hot cakes. It was about 3 cms high, had been baked in an oven and the bottom and sides...were hard. Not a hot cake, but a baked cake. The toppings were nice but I certainly wouldn’t order again unless they change their method to actually cooking proper hot cakes/pancakes. That dish was very disappointing but the others great. The staff did offer a complimentary coffee when I have my feed back, which I declined - just wanted them to be aware of the disappointing menu item.More

Good service with fast recognition, ordering and food delivery. May have been a bad day, but my béarnaise sauce was from a bottle and was served cold, the toast was warm bread and the poached eggs were cold. My husbands meal looked promising, but was...an odd collection of ingredients and didn’t work (again, sauce was out of a bottle). Disappointed, but this was not what I expected by a long shot.More

Table of 4, two ordered the waffles which were quite dry. Lucky they came with ice cream! The other two meals were great. Hotcakes and mushrooms on toast. The real down side is they don’t split bills, a pretty simple thing to do in 2020.

Cup of coffee yes. Work not really, it’s pretty crowded when we were there and there were people waiting for seats.
