Cute restaurant. Had a nice farm to table ambience. Wait time wasn't too bad even during peak lunch hours on a Sunday (15-20 minute wait). However, the food was just mediocre. We ordered the following: Duck confit - Nice presentation, but it had an odd sweet taste that didn't match the dish. Wasn't a fan. Pork sandwich - Not very... More

Though I only tried their smoked salmon & quinoa as well as their portobello mushroom rosti set, each dish is truly well-executed! With each bite, you can taste the freshness and blend of different sauces coming together nicely. It's also love at first bite for my mum who's a health junkie. And their staff are very friendly and warm too.... More

We had one of the best restaurant breakfasts we have ever had here this morning. We had the corn fritters and the portobello mushroom dishes. Both were beautifully presented and the taste matched. Coffee was excellent. Service was fantastic with the exception of the waitress lifting my coffee cup which still contained a last mouthful of froth which was too... More

Outstanding breakfast. Had the mushrooms with poached eggs. Great flavours and textures. Also had bloody Mary's that my wife said were the best she has ever had.

Found this little place to have brunch on our last trip to Melbourne. We were served by three staff all up; the first was downright rude and came very close to having us walking straight out, but we persevered, the waitress we met next was helpful and polite, but the final member of staff was a delight - maybe these... We had an outstanding breakfast at The Grain Store! The ingredients were fresh and the recipes thoughtful and creative. The spirulina juice was amazing!

We tried this cafe after reading in tripadviser. Went on the weekday morning, it was busy but not full (ie: there are still a few empty tables). Managed to get seated within a min once walked in which was a good start. The interior decor was nice and classy. When we are ready to order, the waiter/waitress seem to be... More

This is also one of those 30-45min waits for a table, but it is well worth it. There's a nice waiting area so you don't have to endure cold or wet weather outside whilst you wait. Breakfast was sensational with eggs on sourdough toast, bacon, fennel and pork sausage, mushrooms, grilled tomato. Simple but very well executed and clearly a... More

My friend and I visited for the first time on a Saturday morning as it was close to our hotel and had excellent reviews. We got there around 9am and there was already a wait list. Fortunately they let us order coffee while waiting and within 10 minutes a table for 2 became available. We ordered the potato rosti and... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
