We went for dinner and were very disappointed after reading so many positive reviews and having to try and book several times because they were so busy. The beef dumplings tasted really good despite the casing not being properly sealed. The Chilli beef dish was...so tough and dry I just left it. The corkage of $8 per bottle doesn't really match the 'good value' positioning of the restaurant. Seriously $8 just to wash two glasses is ridiculous.More

ShanDong MaMa was a great afternoon dumpling snack. We had lamb dumplings which were pan fried and delicious. We also had some very unique squid ink dumplings.

We did not enjoy our dumplings in Shandong Mama. We had three different kinds and none was really good. They were just edable. Also our plates were dirty and table so greasy it was discusting.

Finally found an authentic Shandong dish in the city. The ambiance suit its taste. I had a delish traditional shandong noodle, pork and prawn dumplings, and sweet and sour pork with rice for lunch. They were all awesome. Quick tip: to avoid crowd, do come...early.More

An old friend from out of town wanted to meet up for lunch I chose ShandongMaMa because I'd eaten delicious dumplings there before. I was a little worried that it may be a bit noisy, given we were catching up after a long time, and...it's a small eating place. It was fine. Busy, but not overly noisy. We chatted for ages. I ordered the Zucchini dumplings, Other order was the mackerel dumplings. The waiter came to ask how we wanted them cooked. He suggested the Zucchini dumplings be fried (to give extra flavour) and the Mackerel dumplings be steamed. We took his advice. They were perfect! At the end of huge eating and a lot of chatting there was 1 lone mackerel dumpling left one the plate. One of the family (of such a wonderful family business) came and asked if everything was ok, as we'd left one dumpling". We both replied, "Everything was perfect. We are just very full". I love the way the owners are so concerned about their customers' experience. Well done, Shandong MaMa!More

Not sure why this place is rated so highly? Granted we only tried one serving of pork potstickers but honestly they were some of the worst I've had from any restaurant. I'd go as far to say frozen variations may have even been better when...it comes to the flavour profile. The casing of the potsticker was actually well done, nice and crispy on one side and somewhat delicate on the other. Also unusual that it was not sealed, open at both ends- not that it's a problem just thought it was a bit different. The casing as mentioned was well done but the filling was really disappointing. The flavour was virtually non existent with a rubbery texture. Service was also very rushed and not overly friendly. I hate giving bad reviews, especially when I had such high hopes for this place. Maybe the other dishes are better but I can only go off what we had.More

We are dumpling fanatics and saw a review of this place on line and decided to go here instead of our usual Shanghai St/China Red options. Strangely we didn’t order dumplings but potstickers instead along with a Chili Chicken dish that sounded delicious but came...out as something weird. The potstickers were good but I’ve had better from shopping centre stores. Nothing to rave about. The chicken dish was the weirdest Asian dish I’ve seen. It was a plate of small fried chicken pieces like popcorn chicken completely smothered in a pile of very hot dried red chillies. Again the chicken was nice and tasty but not what we expected. One of those dishes that needs a visual on the menu so you know what you’re getting. Been to a couple of Asian restaurants lately where everyone else’s food around us looked great but we just made the wrong choice. This was one of those times. But can’t rate them high on what we had.More
