Met a friend for lunch here last week. Best time to go for lunch is around 1130 as it gets very busy. Food was great. Small portions and a bit pricey.

There is a lot of hype around Chin Chin (still! Even after 4 years) ... But it delivers every time. Note that three serves usually enough for two people. Never go around normal lunch or dinner times or you'll wait for ages - I find 3pm on weekends is a good bet.

You will wait. We arrived at 5pm and waited 45min, but a cheeky cocktail downstairs & bam... No worries. The staff a super friendly & efficient. The food, it's no wonder you have to wait. We had the "feed me" selection, and every dish was delicious. The menu is so varied & inventive, I would feel sorry for anyone that... More

We arrived at 5pm and were shown straight to a table. All food and service outstanding. Highlights were the caramelised pork and the layered mint, apple, coconut and pandan dessert. Subtle and perfectly balanced flavours

Me and my party arrived pretty late, it was around 10pm. We were only a little surprised to find Chin Chin still pumping out the food and drinks and packed table to table full of patrons! Luckily our lubricated and happy foursome were able to score a table without a wait, and were quickly able to get into the good... More

Waitresses disappearing every time you tried to get a word in, had better food the night before in a dodgy place in China town, drinks were exceptional and the staff were very knowledgeable might come in for drinks but not really for dinner

We got here at 430pm for dinner as they don't take booking for under 8 people. Lined up for 40mins and then we're told it would be an hour and a hour for our table. We didn't mind as there are so many places to have a drink and relax. All I will say is I would do it all... More

We visited Chin Chin on a Tuesday night and had to wait approx. 30 minutes for a table (no bookings). The food and atmosphere were great, it is a bit noisy so not the place if you are looking for a quiet dinner. The food was fantastic and the service excellent. Despite being extremely busy our food arrived pretty quickly.... More

I came to Melbourne to enjoy Hestons but left with this gem on my mind! There wasn't a dish I didn't enjoy and the flavours were fantastic! Ended up coming here for three meals and just cant fault it. Service and price was also good!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
