Came here with high expectation but ended up disappointed. We had the “Pork Roll Ups” for entrée which was just OK, a bit on the bland side. The “Son in Law Eggs” dish was very good with perfect semi runny egg yolks and crunchy crusted coating on the egg white. As for the "Green Papaya Salad", I've tasted better elsewhere.... More

Defo delivered tonight. Food was fresh af and the whole joint rocked with fun atmosphere. Deadset. You sweet to wait and have a few snacks and drinks downstairs for your table to become available? Then waiting for Chin Chin to give you the experience you want. I can't wait to come back. Even met Benjamin! Stalked the pass for a... More

A late lunch on Monday afternoon ensured we got a table for four - although it was still very busy. Absolutely devine - all four meals. Massaman curry, pad Thai & the prawn & chicken salad. Definitely a place to dine if your in Melbourne!

We got here for Saturday lunch around 1pm and I saw people sitting outside waiting on chairs so I assumed we would have a long wait, but we actually got seated immediately, albeit on bar stools. The bar stools though were very comfy and it was fun to watch the waiters make drinks. I think the stools would only be... More

Great food and atmosphere but do you really want to queue for 2 hours to day you've been here when there are equally good places you can book .. try red spice road instead

Happened to walk past and noticed no queue! So in we go. No tables left but it is fun to sit on the comfy bar stools and eat at the bench overlooking the chefs in action. The wait staff were great, the atmosphere lovely and the food was fresh and tasty. All in all a fabulous experience and we will... More

This place came highly recommended by friends who live in Melbourne. We visited a few months ago, and were very impressed by the food. It's definitely a fave on our list of hit spots. Expect to wait for a table, you can wait downstairs and chill with some drinks and even have light nibbles to tide you over. But it's... More

I came here while holidaying in Melbourne last May. The restaurant had been written about in a NZ newspaper as one of the places to eat in Melbourne so we put it on our "to do" list. The article helpfully recommended getting there at 11.30am to avoid the lunchtime queues which so just what we did scoring a prime window... More

Love this place! It has a very open, airy, hip vibe in the dining room. I has a seat at the bar and ordered a watermelon coconut juice...very refreshing. I also has the papaya salad which was spicy and authentic, and I have lived in Vietnam! It's a bit pricey for a quick lunch alone, but would be great for... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
