visited Chin Chin last night and although we waited an hour for the table (there was 11 of us!) we had a few drinks in the downstairs bar which had a great vibe and the staff were really friendly. We got a call when our table was ready and we went upstairs to a large table setup for 11 people.... More

Just go there. The food is fabulous and the service great. An early dinner with no need to queue. Great tastes with a buzz in the air.

Chin Chin is a fun place to eat, the atmosphere is very fun, the service is fantastic (on one visit I ordered the wrong Rock fish, when I looked disappointed the waitress wanted to know why I explained I'd ordered the wrong dish, she offered to change the order, but said I might want to try the one I'd incorrectly... My title says it all but for my problem whenever I go to Chin Chin --- what do I not order ! If you enjoy being in a wait situation go anytime. If you don't ,go at say 3:30pm and this covers your lunch and dinner !

There is a good reason why you sometimes have to wait upto a couple of hours to get into Chin Chin - it is just so very, very good. One strategy is to go for lunch. Less of a wait. The vibe, the staff, the drinks and mostly the food, yes the food, just shouts of Melbourne eating at it's... More

This place was terrible. Noisy to an extent that it interferes with the food. Lunch on Saturday was a thirty minutes wait, which I don't mind if the food delivers. This didn't.Awful calamari. Served with a ubiquitous sauce. Thai Dim Sum (shocking) Green Papaya Salad (under par) Duck Red Curry. (Lukewarm) This is overhyped, overpriced and a celebrity chef foible. Was... More

This place was rocking even though we arrived early before 5pm. We had the kingfish sashimi, barramundi pork and Apple salad, goat curry, beef short ribs. Always delicious and yum with great service. If anything our waiter was too attentive and my partner kept getting interrupted trying to read the menu and decide. Otherwise a yum meal. Noisy though and... More

We popped in late on a Sunday to try the famous Chin Chin and we weren't disappointed! We sat downstairs as upstairs was full which was no problem - I actually liked that we were in a corner and could snuggle!! We did both to food on ourselves, but I think that was more to do with the alcohol consumed... More

Located conveniently in the Heart of Melbourne this excellent restaurant provides delicious menu choices with great service. Either lunch or dinner this is a fantastic place to eat and relax. Chin Chin is always busy and the reason is because it is a great place to dine.

We have been to this restaurant several times now, and find the food to be very good. The entrees are magnificent, but the mains are not as as awe inspiring. I do recommend that if one eats here, one should pick from the card rather than the Banquet. Some examples are: The Green curry, very green (unusually) but not very... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
