Location and contact

Named after the red paper lanterns that hang outside traditional Japanese izakaya's, Akachochin is an elegant and modern Tokyo-style bar. Our Head Chef combines quality ingredients and Japanese tradition to present a menu with a focus on true Japanese cuisine presented in a modern way. Akachochin's specialty sake range showcases the best Japan has to offer and if requested, can be matched to a variety of regional dishes to suit your palate. Akachochin's dining room is elegant and when seated at either the marble laden sushi bar or a private table overlooking the water, you will be sure to have your tastebuds looked after at Melbourne's most unique and authentic Japanese restaurant.

Really enjoyed the food and the service was very good. The presentation is important in Japanese food and for a mid range restaurant on the water it rates well. Quality and freshness was good, value was OK. The location makes it a bit pricier than...More

Had a lovely sushi platter and the teriyaki pork belly and teriyaki chicken, everything we had was very yummy. The view of the Yarra River is beautiful. And the staff were very lovely. Thanks for a wonderful lunch! Would definitely come back!

Salmon sushi was rich and buttery. The lunch special is a spectacular deal, better than anywhere in the US.

Its a handy place for a great river view at the south bank. However for Japanese food enthusiasts, its probably not the ideal place. service is good though.

Food and service was excellent. Quick delivery of food to the table. Perhaps a little bit expensive but pretty good. Got into the spirit of PAX with game themed cocktails
