We went back to this cafe, but unfortunately it's not as good as it used to be. No almond milk, so so food and the atmosphere is just not the same.

We deliberately visited this cafe for Saturday morning breakfast based on Tripadvisor reviews. However, we were pretty disappointed. Service, food, attention, cleanliness were all pretty average. Wouldn't recommend this place. In fact we felt that Hardware Lane in general is pretty tired and very dirty. There was lots of litter and cigarette butts on the ground right throughout the lane.... Great place to grab a coffee. Cool street with atmosphere. Great coffee too. Hubby loved the fact that the coffee cups had big enough handles to hold not the poxy ones that you can't hold because the handles are so small.

Pretty damn good. Amongst a sea of cafes we picked this one from the reviews on trip advisor. Had the Kasundi and my partner had the atlantic. Both delish.

We called in for breakfast and we got a table straight away. The staff were friendly and helpful and were happy to discuss and accommodate any dietary requirements. They can do gluten free, vegetarian and dairy free as well. We didn't need vegan but I'm sure they would do this too. The food was delicious, my partner said the little... More

Friendly staff, but disappointed with the Egg Affogatto. Felt nothing fresh to balance the meal and the hollandaise sauce made it too heavy.

Arrived in Melbourne in the morning, looked up in Trip Advisor for a good place to have breakfast near the hotel and found this one. Staff is very friendly. Had a single shot long black and egg Florentine, good presentation. Coffee was a bit sour, not to my taste. Poached eggs were cooked to perfection, bacon was a bit hard... More

Melbourne seems to be fueled by caffeine. Every nook and cranny looks to host an espresso machine worked by wonderfully talented baristas keeping the Great Sourhern Capital watered and fed. How then do you choose the best one for you? I go by two simple rules. Avoid the big chains where everything is to a formula and the only surprise... More

We discovered Affogato when looking for breakfast early on Saturday morning. The chef was very welcoming and quickly provided a high chair for our 2 year old daughter. Fabulous coffee arrived quickly, followed by delicious breakfast. All three dishes were great and the gluten free option was much appreciated. It was so good we went back on Sunday and had... More

A little touch of Italy surrounded by Korea in Hardware lane, great for a quick brunch, very friendly staff and plenty of tables outside to watch the passing parade. Lots of gluten free items across the range of tasy foods and a great breakfast menu. The fritters are fabulous and the Atlantic Eggs brings lashings of frsh succulent salmon. Coffee... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
