The Toff is a late afternoon through to late night venue that's very centrally located. It is oriented to live music and bar-service drinks. However it does host a few other functions, and my most recent visit was to attend an awards function held in the half of the premises that is set up for stage performers and dancing. It's... More

It is part and parcel of any visit to Melbourne. I love the vibe, the feel, the staff, the customer base and the food and drink on offer. It never disappoints and the place is always jam packed with a vibrancy that just says 'Enjoy'. And we did numerous times!

Love this place. Easy vibe. Great music. Private booths. Great booze list. A must visit place on the Melbourne nightlife map. The stairs can be daunting after a few drinks, in either direction, however wear appropriate footwear and shouldn't be an issue. Highly recommended.

I was actually recommend COOKIE as a place to eat dinner, but when i called they said you really need to make a booking 4-6 weeks ahead! they were really cool about it and suggested The Toff which is one floor above. it's a very cool place with old style wooden train cabins with doors that slide closed. if you... This is a great place to enjoy a night out in Melbourne. It is divided into two places with different genres of music. One area has booths and is an excellent place to host a group of friends and have a semi-private party of your own, The second area has a dance floor and is where people get down and... More

Asked how much a Stone & Wood was and the bartender pulled one out and opened it before telling me it was $16 for a 500ml beer worth 1.7 standard drinks and taking my card off me to pay pass it before I'd even comprehended the ridiculous price of this not even internationally imported beer. Unhappy.

checked it out on a Wednesday night with an overseas guest. great Cocktails and the old fashion train carriages that you can sit in for privacy are some thing different. Would be great for a party of 6-8 to hangout in

Cool train booths and delicious, quirky range of cocktails made this a great experience. Our party spent an enjoyable few hours here. The food was great but the servings were a little small, even for tapas.

It's definitely on the to do list upon coming to Melbourne. To sit in a booth at "The Toff In Town" and order cocktails. Though it's a little pricey, it's generally a once off experience so its worth it. I used to like "The Toff In Town" better when they had a whole lot of novels within the booths. Whenever... More

Ate here with my brother and his wife last month. The food tasted okay but the portions were tiny, we knew it was Asian tapas but were recommended some 'bigger dishes' that would apparently fill us up. The staff were clueless and we left hungry. Our glasses were always empty and one of the dishes we ordered never showed up.... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
