Their tiramisu ice cream and bailey's ice cream are my favorite as well and they have various fruity options as well and i love their mango flavor... the flavor and texture... More

After visiting Universal over the road I thought I'd try here for dessert. First mistake. Don't go anywhere after Universal, their food is good and plentiful. It makes it hard to eat too much of anything later. I tried just one scoop - because of previous comments - and it was salted caramel. It was nice and creamy, not overpowering... More

Firstly, I'm not an avid fan of ice cream and in particular, durian gelato! My daughter who's also not a durian lover surprised me by telling me that she tried this durian gelato in Melbourne (Melbourne?? Durian gelato?? Hmmm ...) and is out of this world! We were so full and since she spoke so much about it, I thought... More

Wow, wow, wow!!! This ice cream is the bomb! Got a couple of take home packs and we are in love. We had the Ferrero Rocher, Pistacchio, Mango and Baileys and they were all so silky and smooth. I can't wait to get back there and try all of the other amazing flavours they had! It is a bit expensive,... More

My lemon ice cream was great. I notice Il Dolce was back to my hotel. The name remined me of places in Buenos Aires. My lemon ice cream really hit the spot

Hands down, the best gelato in Melbourne. The most amazing flavours. Rich and creamy. It's like being in Italy. Do yourself a favour and get down and try some.

We stayed in Carlton, Melbourne for 3 days and visited Il Dolce Freddo on each of those days. Need I say anymore! We can't wait to visit Carlton again for our gelato fix.

Great choice of ice cream flavors. We tried Tiramisu, passion fruit, lychee and salted caramel. As we took so long to choose, the owner asked us to sample more flavors. We liked the fruity flavors best, they have really intense taste.

Thank Andreas P

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighborhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighborhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
