My partner and I stumbled across this place when breakfast hunting on Degraves st. We got a great spot outside on the street and were served pretty quickly. My partner got Smashed Avo and feta with bacon and rocket - it was a little underwhelming but the bacon was delicious.. I got a simple toast, baked beans and a hash... More

This Italian place in a little street of flinders has a few tables outside with terrace heaters. A welcome treat considered the winter temperatures. A decent breakfast menu but overpriced for what they offered. I had the big breakfast. Mushrooms where black and tasteless, scrambled eggs was proportion wise nice and big so was the amount of bacon. Al together... More

The manager asked us if we were happy in our table and confirmed what we ordered. Very good service and food. We used the outside tables.

I had a lovely meal (vegetarian risotto). The wine was nice. Service was friendly. Nothing spectacular or unique, but definitely recommended if you're looking for a good, healthy and tasteful meal.

Disappointed, most of the reviews on Trip Advisor were positive. We were seated in what the waiter described as a private area, where you could be loud. Well private area, aka doorway to the toilets, that everyone forgot to close. It was drafty. Ordered a beer, 15 minutes later, still not arrived. All the beers, stubbies, priced at $8.50. A glass... Ate dinner here on Friday 24th June on the way to the football. Service was good although there was not a lot of people in the restaurant when we were there. The menu offered a good variety of meals however we decided on the specials of the day. 3 of our party of 4 had the Gnocchi with Lamb Ragout... More

We were looking for Italian and found this lovely little place, glad we decided to try! The ambience is amazing, Italian music, the staff were dancing, we sat inside in the warm and looking out was very reminiscent of being in Europe again. Food was fabulous, I had pizza and hubby had calzone, absolutely delicious! Cant wait to visit Melbourne... More

We stumbled on this little gem by accident. We were so pleased and had a wonderful evening. A late meal after a flight turned out to be a dining pleasure, to remember. Our waiter was traditionally Italian and gave the best authentic service. The meals were tasty and the champagne was excellent. Cant wait fo return.

Really enjoyed our dinner and the staff are wonderfully cheerful, colourful, and warm. Had the steak, calzone, and La Greek pizza and they were good, especially the La Greek.

We were thrilled with this find for a Saturday morning breakfast. Other restaurants in the same lane have their outside tables jam packed so we kept walking, then we came across Il Tempo. It was drizzling with rain but we wanted to be outside to soak up the atmosphere and their tables are perfect for this, nestled between heaters. Our... More

Description
Il Tempo means Its The Right Time.... To visit us and experience our casual Italian cafe with the friendliest, most courteous staff in Melbourne.

Established in 2000 and conveniently located in Degraves Street, just across from Flinders Street Station.

Whether you choose to dine outside (Alfresco) or inside the European style bistro, Il Tempo cannot be beaten for authentic Italian cuisine, reasonable prices and a fun ambience.

Yes, the cozy, dimly lit atmosphere makes it difficult to want to leave and head home after dinner, but luckily, we are opened late.. So we suggest you sit back and relax and slowly sip that wonderful Chianti from our extensive wine list. Or maybe we will tempt you with one of our famous desserts...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
