We have been waiting for drinks 20 min. We finally got our meal and my partner got prawn meal with 2 pieces of pizza bread and 3 prawns for $20. If you hungry, avoid this place! Very slow service and poor quality of food. Ps. Waiter very arrogant!

Quaint Italian restaurant that we really weren't going to eat at but wanted to get out of the cold. The food was reasonable. The service though was the the stellar point to this place. Anthony made sure our night was memorable. Word of warning though there are lots of beggars in this area.

Stopped off here for breakfast one morning during a stay in Melbourne and enjoyed relaxing outside watching the busy work go by, whilst enjoying great coffee and good service. Beware if ordering from the breakfast menu, though. Whilst the food is delicious, the portions are huge! Both my partner and I struggled to finish our breakfasts.

I called by to grab a quick dinner, alone. Even though they were very busy & I took up a table for 2, I was not once rushed & the service given couldn't have been friendlier. Great choice in both food & wine. I couldn't fault either. I had a delicious penne matriciana and even though the serving size was... More

Sat inside, because of the weather. Order was taken promptly. I believe the waiter was not listening but just taking orders. He was always in hurry. I ordered a pizza with extra cheese. No extra cheese. One of the ladies ordered a Margarita, but was not the correct drink when presented. We finished the meal, not really impressed with the... More

Really enjoyed our meal, busy Sunday late lunch. Brilliant service. Friendly prompt, tasty, fresh, busy accomodating and brilliant coffee. Up in Melbourne often will be back to taste more of the Menu.

We sat inside for lunch as the outside tables were full and very much enjoyed our pizza and pasta meals. They were served quickly and cheerfully by the excellent waiter/owner. Reasonable value for money too. Go there!

Relied on TripAdvisor feedback. Staff were super friendly with our baby, made a genuine effort to accommodate the pram. We had the vegetarian pizza which was really nice; def ask for chilli oil !

Popped in for some Sunday Brunch and was not disappointed - had the Eggs Florentine with side of avocado & hash brown - was very tasty. Also had a nice strong flat white. My friend had the Caesar Salad with Chicken & poached egg - he commented that it was one of the best he'd ever had. Defo recommend this... More

We dined here on a Saturday early in the evening, it was a great little setting in a side street off the main road with a fantastic atmosphere the kind you expect in Melbourne. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the meals were reasonably priced and the food service quick. I ordered the cabonara with the gluten free penne... More

Description
Il Tempo means Its The Right Time.... To visit us and experience our casual Italian cafe with the friendliest, most courteous staff in Melbourne.

Established in 2000 and conveniently located in Degraves Street, just across from Flinders Street Station.

Whether you choose to dine outside (Alfresco) or inside the European style bistro, Il Tempo cannot be beaten for authentic Italian cuisine, reasonable prices and a fun ambience.

Yes, the cozy, dimly lit atmosphere makes it difficult to want to leave and head home after dinner, but luckily, we are opened late.. So we suggest you sit back and relax and slowly sip that wonderful Chianti from our extensive wine list. Or maybe we will tempt you with one of our famous desserts...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
