We nearly didn't find this place. It only has a very small sign next to an average sized door with a steep staircase. Luckily we came by early. It filled up fast, which was surprising to us for a Sunday night. The prices are a little higher than you'd expect, though the tapas style suited us well, and we had... More

Came here for a sneaky work lunch with a colleague and we did not leave disappointed in anyway. We booked in that morning and thank god we did as we must have got the last 2 seats. The place was full on - in a good way. Really goof vibe and the staff were fantastic. We ordered the pineapple and... More

We found ourselves waiting on the staircase for half an hour before getting a table. Not only were we brought menu's to have a look over while we waited, but also a fruity homemade icy pole to help us cope with the scorching heat. The wait was well worth it! By the time we were seated, we knew exactly what... More

With 55-years experience eating Mexican food, I can assure you I've tried almost every Mexican restaurant in Australia (surely Melbourne) to see if anyone can get close to what I was raised on in California and Mexico. And you know what? Mamasita is the closest thing you'll get (in Australia) to proper Mexican. With everything being homemade - from the... More

Went there for a quick supper, corn appetisers were good, quick and tasty! Tacos was also very nice but quite small, so for 3-4 tacos should be good for one person, shrimp and fish tacos are nice however the pork was not that great as it was a bit dried and tasteless. I am sure there are lots of other... More

Was really looking forward to eating here and having the pork pibil tacos. The corn starters were great and there was a brilliant choice of Mezcal. Unfortunately the tacos were pretty fatty and flavourless. The staff were very pleasant however and refunded the tacos, which was nice however we were expecting so much more from the food and the black... More

Hola MintyB0y, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, all feedback is appreciated. It is disappointing to hear that you were let down by the pork tacos. We do hope that you will be back again soon for some more delicious corn. Saludos, Mamasita More

We arrived early eve but already this place was full! Enjoyed a great margarita at the bar until the table was available. The food was amazing, quesadilla's out of this world! Would definitely return!

One of my favourite restaurants that never disappoints! The octopus and ceviche are wonderful as is the fish and tongue tacos. I love the vibe and service here. I'll keep coming back for more.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
