This a very popular restaurant with no bookings available for small groups. However, we thought we'd head off early and give it a go. Fortunately we had 4 people so were seated at a table quicker than the tables of 2. The food was delicious with the corn lollipops the top of the list. My half of the beef short... More

If you blinked you would walk right past this little gem. To keep things simple we ordered all the dishes that were high lighted as being the signature dish..... about six in total. Plus the shirt ribs just because we were feeling greedy. I must say there wasn't a bad dish among them. Stand out dishes include the Goat tostadas,... More

I had such high hopes for this place as I have heard some great reviews. The food tasted like normal Mexican, nothing to boast about. The serving sizes were very small. The best thing about the place was the service. Lovely and knowledgeable staff.

Great food and atmosphere, younger crowd but in keeping with the vibe. Good wine list, extensive list of Tequila and Mezcal. This is not texmex so don't expect big serves but the quality is good.

Not your standard Mexican restaurant. if your looking for your standard tacos and nachos and burritos this is not the place for you. Great menu if you want to try something different I reccomend the street corn and the beef cheek tostadas were great. Most meals are small and the aim is to get a few like tapas. Found the... More

As a serious Mexican lover I was so disappointed by our dining experience as Mamasita! Honestly I think we were just unlucky as the ques and reviews speak for themselves but I felt it was not all it's cracked up to be. Staff were lovely and very attentive, food came quickly and the tacos were pretty good (but not full... More

This is a great place for Mexican food in the CBD. They may take bookings for large groups but generally it's a walk up.

Mamasita is like visiting a taco truck with a twist. We went for a late lunch and the place was fairly empty. Our server was attentive and offered a lot of great advice on what & how much to order. We ordered several sharable plates and then a few more tacos, because tacos. Everything we ate was outstanding, but the... More

Had a nice meal, table of 8 so had the fixed price Menu, for eating out in Melbourne reasonably good Value, the sweet corn & beef ribs a stand out. Hats off to all the Kitchen staff working in that space. Unfortunately sitting on vinyl seats, no air-conditioning & no air movement, with completely inadequate acoustic dampers - made for... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
