Dined and drink here and its a bit mixed experience. Ambiance and staff are quite good. But the fillet steak is not the best, on a special price. Its a bit tough, nothing special.

Had an evening meal here on our last night in Melbourne. Really great and helpful service with very tasty food. Thought the beer (Speckled Hen ) quite expensive, but everything else was great

Awful service, the girl behind the bar was INCREDIBLY RUDE. I thought that it looked like a warm and welcoming environment, but she left an absolutely sour taste in my Mouth. Oh well, I am more than certain plenty of other bars in Melbourne will appreciate my money and presence. I saw that she was just as rude to other... More

I've been a pretty regular visitor to the Sherlock Holmes when travelling with work over past two years and always rated it well. Unfortunately at a visit last week I went to order food at 830 (on the dot) to be told the kitchen closed at 830 so no go for myself and the two I was with. Fair enough... More

Stopped here for a drink and dinner. Had a pint of Ale and a glass of Pimm's with lemonade and had Beer batter fish and chips for dinner. Staff very friendly.

Stopped off for drinks and dinner. This place is busy and very popular so make a booking if you are after dinner. This restaurant is basically a hole in the wall and if you don't know its there you will miss it but well worth the effort to search for the street address

We went here with a lot of expectations, esp because of the name only to feel disappointed. Decoration was mediocre, you would wonder how it is related to Sherlock after all. We ordered a plate of nachos which were served with sauce that was burnt and stuck to the serving plate, by a waiter who looked like he was bored... More

WOW.. can't believe I had missed this one. This is a lovely English style pub with some great real Ales on tap. It is a popular pub and finding a seat, especially for a group can be difficult. If your planning a visit make a reservation. I wouldn't recommend it for a casual drink on your own, but would be... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
