My partner and I went here for dinner and a pint on a Tuesday evening. First, Tuesdays are trivia night; if you aren't there early you won't get a seat until after trivia wraps up at 20:30. The sign outside is clearly hung above a set of carpeted steps that lead down. There is a bar with tables situated around... More

This pub is downstairs in Collin St and a true surprise. The food was delicious, we had the cottage pie and the enormous but tasty cheeseburger. The fare includes English favourites such as lambs fry (liver) and onion, bangers and mash and roast of the day of course without forgetting the ever needed all day breakfast - a full range... More

Take the few steps down into this charming pub. The atmosphere is pleasant, the service is engaged and the food delicious for comfort pub food. Loved the charming quaint atmosphere. Thank you!

Another English Pub!, you say. Yes, but this cosy little place on Collins Street serves excellent pub food, albeit at slightly inflated prices (burgers around the $25 mark). Great range of beer, but slightly expensive ($10/pint for a "boutique" beer). Excellent staff who are very welcoming, and who provide excellent service. This is the sort of place I think you... Dined and drink here and its a bit mixed experience. Ambiance and staff are quite good. But the fillet steak is not the best, on a special price. Its a bit tough, nothing special.

Had an evening meal here on our last night in Melbourne. Really great and helpful service with very tasty food. Thought the beer (Speckled Hen ) quite expensive, but everything else was great

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
