went here for breakfast by mistake after getting referred to centro expresso, diagonally across the street. coffee was pretty good, but not drool, and french toast came with no-name brand lifeless toast and canned peaches. no x factor here.

I always stop here while in Melbourne. If I am within a couple of blocks, I have to stop and get a coffee.

I had a yummy bocconcini and prosciutto Panini. Slightly crispy on the outside, so bread on inside and yummy filling. You can only pay cash so remember to bring some with you. Would come back to try there pasta or tapas if they can do that with a panini. They have lots of tapas after 3pm. Breakfast in the morning.... More

I love this little street but I've noticed that the service is lacking. Is it because of the constant flow of customers and they don't have to try too hard to attract business? The food and tea here was good. It look a little while for us to be noticed and served and when we were I felt like I... More

We arrived unannounced on way to theatre. Ordered all maina despite knowing how good tapas were from last visit. We were hungry! The place was frantic but staff capable and efficient. All our meals arrived quickly, piping hot and perfectly cooked to order. Steak perfect, veges perfect. We will be back again and again and ....

We were lucky enough to get a table for 7 with no notice on Saturday night. Due to the large group I was able to taste a lot of the tapas dishes. All were delicious. The railway seats were quirky & immovable but added to the atmosphere. One of the most satisfying meals I've had in Melbourne & very reasonably... More

Sadly this was not one of our best Melbourne Laneways experiences, far from it. On a positive we got to sit outside on the last night of winter being a mild evening. Two of us shared four tapas dishes which was enough for an early dinner before an event at The Arts Centre. The food was very disappointing especially the... More

Have heard good reviews about Degraves Espresso Bar, therefore went hunting for it. I was rather taken aback as I felt as if I was transported back in time...in a good way. Love the interior of the place. Enjoyed their big breakfast, the sausage was fantastic and the coffee was good. My friend had their Signature French Toast, yummyyyy!!! The... More

Loved the tapas here. Great laneways experience. We popped in with our family at the end of a long day of enjoying Melbourne. We had tapas in groups of three, their special. The staff were friendly and efficient. Service is quick too.

Thank Louise H

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
