You can't really go wrong if you pick somewhere in Degraves and this is no exception. The tapas is fantastic with great portion sizes, great flavours and good value. The only thing preventing me from giving this place 5/5 is that they do Cash Only. I just feel in this day and age you should be able to provide an... More

Don't go there if you are still interested in a decent cocktail. We ordered 4 cocktails and a dip dish. The cocktails were really bad, sugar syrup was a teaspoon of sugar congregated at the bottom of the glass. The dips didn't appear at all. It was disappointing. Great spot in a famous laneway. Maybe the coffee is better.

The food remains of high quality, compared to most places in the street . Coffee is excellent . Seating is a bit of an issue - outdoor seating is mostly stools . Indoor seating is cosy ( some would say cramped ) , and some broken seats / tables not always bring repaired . This is a favourite place of... More

Dropped in for a late breakfast. Menu alterations were offered by the friendly staff. Service was seamless.

The breakfast here was very ordinary in flavour and presentation. The meals lacked freshness and the breakfast bruschetta was disappointing. The onion jam was over powering, the rest of the ingredients were sloppy. The waitress mistook scrambled eggs for fried however the team were apologetic, fast to re-do the order and very friendly - which we appreciated. It's a tourist... More

This must be the worst cafe experience I have ever had! Went indoors initially but the music was so loud it was like sitting in a disco! The greasy smell was also noxious so much so that because we had already placed our order, we asked to move outdoors! This is were, looking in, we saw how filthy the place looked!... More

Ordinary fare largely. Mostly because they've embraced Melbourne's fear of flavour. Good service, We had meat balls, Pork belly, cheese thing (overdone halumi I think), spud fratatas, prawns - now they were spicy. Cash ONLY !!!!!!!

I suppose with all the competition in this street you wouldn't survive unless the service was good, but these people were really great. It was like visiting friends. Add good value for money food and it's well worth a visit.

Firstly it was a sat and very busy but our food was reasonably average when it finally arrived. My eggs florentine was superb but my daughters salami panini to ages to arrive and was really lacking in fillings..The iced coffee was very average too and hot choccy worse..no effort there. Service was slow as busy but friendly.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
