What an awesome find. Great wine, friendly staff, good selection of tasty wine food. The pork and duck terrine is delectable. Apparently gets very busy, but will be worth the wait!

My partner and I decided to spend an afternoon drinking wine and heard such great things about City wine shop. We couldn't not start with half a dozen oysters. But I wish we hadn't! There was two worms crawling from the shells. When we asked the staff member without a word he took the plate. I am shocked by the... More

Fantastic place to meet friends, the food is authentic, interesting and always changing. Staff are great, efficient and friendly. But the wine is amazing. You can buy bottles to take away, and the selection is incredible, diverse and well thought through. Highly recommend this place.

Arrived late into Melbourne and needed a light meal and a night cap. Just around the block from our hotel, we stumbled across this al fresco gem. Great heating, saganaki with figs, charcuterie, wine wine wine. Just perfect with attentive, lighthearted service. Go here!!

We were looking for somewhere for a drink and light meal before the theatre. The City Wine Shop had a great atmosphere, a wonderful drinks menu, excellent food and first class service.

The City Wine shop has a wonderful specialised selection of wines to take away - or you can buy and drink there for a corkage fee. Also wonderful wines by the glass (we had the Jacquesson champagne) and an eclectic and interesting menu. no problems purchasing wines and then shipped to SA for a fee of $20 - a bargain... More

Fantastic, cultured and lively are the words to describe this restaurant/bar. We visit this place often before a show and it never lets us down. The wine selection is up there with the best in Melbourne. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Sitting out on Spring st just adds to Melbourne's world class culture. The only comment I could... More

After only a short wait inside while enjoying a beautiful Sangiovese, we were shown to a table out on the path looking at the beautiful building across the street. We had the ploughmans to start, and followed by the Tuna Nicoise, the Lamb Cutlets, and the Chicken schnitzel. All dishes were beautifully presented, and well cooked. The take on the... More

Love this place. Whenever in Melbourne we always come here. Great and interesting wine selection with very knowledgable staff. And the food is fabulous too, from the European next door I think. Wish we had a place like this at home.

Outdoor lunch dining destination opposite Parliament on a Melbourne winters day, great wine & matching food, what more could you want.......more wine!!! Unplanned lunch stop that didn't disappoint. Wine by the glass with small plates to share, light meals or full mains. We opted for a ploughmans plate & charcuterie plate to share with a glass of wine each. Plenty... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
