Stopped by for breakfast on a short trip to Hobart and glad we did! Right in the heart of Slamanca Square, lovely atmosphere, FABULOUS attentive service and food that is just that tiny bit different to make it unique. I enjoyed the Turkish baked eggs with labneh and dukka (delicious but could have been hotter) while my partner had the... More

Not what i would normally expect for breakfast. I tried the sardines for breakfast. Wasnt sure what to.expect, however when it came out and we tried it, it was absolutely amazing- and different. Forgot the bacon and eggs... try something differnt. You wont be disappointed. Would go back to check out the breakky or dinner menu some time soon.

Was recommended this spot and it did not disappoint. Our Chilean Waitress was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The wine selection was extensive and in good taste, and the food was delicious. I have recommended it to any one else who visits Hobart as a must try - only if you're ordering the Arancini!

We came to this restaurant bc all the blogs rated it Staff were v friendly, the oysters for entree were fresh and delicious But The market fish main- a trumpeter - was dry and over cooked- disappointed given the entree was promising- jamon croquettes. Beef ragu with house made fettuccini (which was a touch coarse) was passable. At $200 for... More

Like a lot of business people from time to time I had a business meeting over lunch at Smolt. Had interstate business contacts and they wanted to try this restaurant. Food was fine - a little expensive but good value for money for this central location - but the music was so so loud. Not conducive for any business conversation... More

We waited at the counter for at least 7 mins unattended. Although we were ready to walk out my friend really wanted that afternoon catch up time and hot choc. We then had to find staff out the back. Even though the restaurant was completely empty other then another couple, everything too a very long time to come. Weirder was... More

Any restaurant that charges nearly $40 for a main (and $20 for dessert) should ensure that it meets the basic standards of service, quality and quantity. It started when the waiter poured a less-than-half standard restaurant wine glass at $13.50 a throw. Although he appeared to be a nice young man, he could not tell us anything about the fish... We had a mixed combination of small plates and all the food was well cooked and tasted good however was very expensive for what it was and we found much better places selling quality food at more reasonable prices. The oysters were seriously hiked .. the tiniest ones we'd had and at almost $5 a pop !

With a name like Smolt, situated next to a Tassal Salmon shop and with a massive floor-to-ceiling tank of salmon in the entrance, you would think this restaurant specialised in seafood. To be presented with a menu focussing mainly on tapas, pizza and pasta was the first surprise. The entree style plates were more aligned with tapas style dishes which... More

The food was good, but as you'll find in most places in Tasmania it is a bit expensive for what you get. The calamari was quite good.
