Read good reports about Rin and was looking forward to a Japanese meal. The restaurant itself is a small, quaint unassuming little place with an assortment of tables and chairs.Service whilst friendly is a bit hit and miss. We had a 20\25 minute wait til entree arrived and it was not what we ordered. It eventually found its rightful owner. Our entrees of gyoza,prawn... More

I joined two friends for lunch at Rin and was served by a pleasant, effective waitress. I ordered a $28 Special Set meal that consisted of a selection of sushi, sashimi and tempura with noodles and miso soup. Beautiful flavours and just enough to satisfy my appetite. Hot green tea completed an excellent lunch in an excellent setting. There were... More

It's cute and local and has all the favorite Japanese sushi and sashimi in the menu, but it just doesn't quite hit he mark. Also on a cold winters night you'd think it would be nice and cozy with the heat turned up but it is a small establishment and frankly it was just too hot to be comfortable. The... More

I come here once a month and have done for nearly a year. I can't believe I have yet to write a review on this place! Consistently good food, with the service matching the decor; quirky and trying its best. Having said that, what you come here for is the food. Great, accessible, affordable Japanese. Home made and fresh, with... More

This is a tiny Japanese restaurant, a bit out the way but well worth a visit. Fresh, wholesome and altogether unpretentious. Great choice of sake too, and easy on your wallet. So if you like Japanese, treat the walk as exercise, and view the somewhat desolate neighbourhood through a sepia filter.

I have eaten here a few times and the food is consistently fresh, well-presented and delicious. As can be expected of Japanese cuisine, the meals are simple with delicate flavours. I can highly recommend the miso-salmon. It reminds me of Japanese home-cooking :-) The restaurant itself is small, so it can feel a little crowded. But this makes for a... More

Ticks most of the boxes but is not outstanding. Good selection of Sake by the glass. Overall, the food is good, service is acceptable but decor needs a lot of help. Good for lunchtime meal and close to central Hobart.

Very busy little joint - great vibe. Food came quite out in a reasonable time frame and was delicious. Tempura udon and a Ramen dish. Always love having Japanese speaking staff, makes the experience all the more authentic.
