Great if you enjoy seasonal produce with creative treatment. You don't know what to expect as you are seated for your degustation and on the whole very satisfied! For the fine dining experience / degustation, well priced compared to many other capital cities and wine regions. Lovely ambiance and the foyer courtyard gorgeous.

My partner and I were visiting Hobart and had heard good things from friends about Ethos. We weren't disappointed! Upon entering, despite accidentally wandering into the bar first, the guy working there took us personally to the restaurant area and handed us over to the waiter. We were seated and the rest of the evening was lovely. The waiter serving... More

Enjoyed this week, loved the simplicity and strong use of local vegetables. Each course was unique and tasted great. We will be back.

An amazing experience - beautiful fitout, simple but amazing food showcasing local produce and exceptional wine matches at a relatively reasonable price - in Hobart for a special occasion and Ethos did not disappoint.

exceptional six course meal with tastings for each course. Most dishes were exotic and not the usual. Did not feel at all replete but enjoyed the tasting experience

Recently renovated and reopened as a evening bar. Beutiful furniture as you walk in with funky lighting. Area at the front is very open when few people there, a bit more cozy down the back. Limited number of bar snacks available and the wine list could do with some attention, however there are many beers, ciders and cocktails to choose... More

Loved this dining experience- great food and beautifully presented! We half expected to be disappointed based on some of the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised and certainly did not leave feeling hungry! All in all a really great experience and we will return.

Appalling! I was looking forward to my meal based on the amazing reviews. Started off with a duck egg that tasted heavily of vinegar, followed by a tasteless jeruselum artichoke (sauce anyone?), then a hunk of cauliflower smoked - that was so revolting we actually sent it back only to be given another plain hunk of cauliflower. There was a... More

A fried egg and a sausage pattie does not a degustation make. The price and minimalism of this style of dining requires innovation, vibrance and deliciousness throughout all courses. The faces, and overheard reactions, of other diners suggested that we were not alone in our bemused disappointment. For wine-matching, pairing like with like (apple flavours with apples, buttery tones with... More

Ethos had been recommended to me by a friend in Melbourne, and it was the first place I booked to dine whilst visiting Hobart. I was so glad that I did. Diners are treated to a degustation which changes daily, depending on local seasonal produce that is available. I'm a vegetarian, and with advance warning the chef was able to... More
