I had lunch at Bel Cibos last week. We were served by a young lady who could hardly speak English and didn't know what a house wine was... The food was nice, but I felt like I could've cooked it myself. In conclusion It was an average, nothing special experience.

I came tonight with my family. The staff were lovely and some of our meals were alright. But comparing the quality and quantity to the price... it cost a little too much. But the gnocchi was quite good!!

We are holidaying in Port Douglas with our parents and went out to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. We could not have picked a better restaurant. The service, foods and drinks were flawless. We walk away extremely happy we decide to celebrate at Bel Cibo.

This restaurant is always busy and you need to book for dinner, particularly at popular times. We enjoyed our meal so much the first time, we returned a second night. All of the pasta dishes are excellent, as is the seafood risotto which I had both nights. The panacotta for dessert is also worth having, all washed down with a... More

Great place to eat and the food was very tasty. The setting on the balcony overlooking the main street at sunset was lovely. I would recommend this place

Every year we travel to PD and visit our favourite restaurants. Bel Cibo was one of them. I order the seared scallop entree. Those 4 fat juicy scallops sitting atop truffled cauliflower puree and pancetta are my favourite. Imagine my disappointment when the dish is served and there's only 3 little scallops greeting me. Discussion ensues "I'm sure there used... More

Thanks for your review. I certainly agree with Rule #2 that taking an order of 6 people you should write it down, this is amplified when you have menu changers like yourselves which we do our best to accommodate. I do have issues with Rule #1- Skimping on a signature dish. Let's put things into perspective for you, the price... More

GREAT FOOD. Barrumandi and gnocchi very nicely cooked and flavoursome. Younger son had seafood linguine and polished off the plate. Good service with water being refilled consistently. Deserts nice too loved the meringue. Bit expensive but that's port Douglas . Nice position on the balcony to watch people go by.

We dined here Sept 16 for lunch after walking off the street and were shown a seat on the balcony very promptly. Our maitre d was very friendly (had a discussion on his planned trip to Japan) and realized we were Kiwi's commenting if we liked the meal he would introduce us to the Kiwi chef afterwards. This would have... More

Having reviewed the negative reviews of this restaurant it is clear the owner cannot take any criticism at all. Maheno - OCT 2015 wrote that she was unhappy as they were charged for a side dish that came after the meal wash finished and the owner stated she must be mistaken it cannot be his restaurant. Impossible for such a thing to happen in HIS restaurant. He then goes on to try and shift the blame onto ANOTHER restaurant!?

I wrote a bad review for my experience at this restaurant earlier in the year and the owner attacks me for it. Even attacking my appearance in my profile pic!

@ KiwiChef, people are entitled to write their opinions and complain if they have had a bad experience. Your response to those opinions and complaints reflects your customer service skills, your ability to take and handle criticism and just your general maturity. You attack every person who has a negative opinion about their experience at your restaurant. I'm sure if I go again I might have a better or even a perfect experience, but the time I visited I didn't and you shouldn't attack people who don't praise you, your food, staff and venue.

Last thing, it's extremely low and scummy behavior to try and blame another restaurant for a bad review YOU received (as mentioned above). You actually say of the bad review "there is another Italian Restaurant in Port Douglas - Bucci, they seem to have many negative reviews on their TA page about food & service.I agree with you & just cannot fathom that happening here.Ciao" I notice it is not the first time you try to blame this restaurant. I'll be letting them know so they can report you.

I'm sure you're going to have a charming and professional response ready for me after hearing some hard truth. I feel sorry for the poor staff member you're going to force to reply to this.

I hope people catch on to you. Kiwi "Chef".
