We took friends to the Prawn Star for a surprise lunch for a 60th yesterday. Tammy and her team were fabulous, putting up a birthday banner (that we brought) on the side of the boat for us and even bringing out a “birthday prawn” and...singing happy birthday to our friend. The look on our friend’s face when he saw the banner was priceless. We then enjoyed drinks and delicious seafood from the jumbo platter (plus extra salmon sashimi!) was just perfect. A fantastic lunch. Thank you all!More

Extremely disappointed, Prawns small and chewy, Bugs awfully dry .. Oysters ok. This week I’ve eaten sea food from Woolworths and the Prawn Star, I know where I’d rather eat from and it’s not the Prawn Star. Sadly over priced … Save your $ folksMore

My daughter and I have recently had dinner at the Prawn Star. Food was fresh and tasty but the location, the experience and the full moon just made the evening. Can't wait to go back!

Not very happy with the flavour, bugs were tasteless, not enough salt in water when prawns cooked, a bit bland. Don't think I will be back. Very let down, as we were celebrating a anniversary.

Something very different, sitting on a trawler eating fresh prawns. Staff very friendly and easy to order. Prawns were good, but smaller than I anticipated, still fresh though. Cost was acceptable and would visit again

No where near as good and fresh as it was 3 years ago. Great location and concept, but the prawns on the day we visited were definitely not fresh

Our table of 5 had 2 mixed platters plus an extra plate of bugs, the salmon sashimi was very good, the prawns excellent however whilst the bugs tasted ok they were watery, not well cleaned so the look was unappetising because of the black lumps...( probably seaweed? ) attached the them , and very small. We all enjoyed the meal and the price was average for what you get. The lack of finger bowls was disappointing as you go through many paper napkins cleaning your hands, maybe a covid safety issue caused that. Eating on the trawlers is fun and would be great for lunch. Unfortunately the weather didn’t play fair for our dinner so we were inclosed in the drop down sides.would I suggest it? yesMore

While walking along the Cairns esplanade and marina we noticed the prawn trawlers advertising a restaurant. My husband suggested we try it for lunch so I booked online. The seafood was some of the best we had in Cairns. We ordered the cooked prawn and...Moreton bay bugs platter with a glass of wine and a beer. I couldn’t believe how much came on the platter with several different kinds of prawns. Really nice seafood sauce too. It’s great fun to sit on the actual trawler in the marina with other guests at a long picnic style table. The awning provided good cover from the sun while we shared many funny travel stories on our adventures to avoid COVID lockdowns. My husband loved the experience so much we bought a t-shirt and every time he walks around in it someone comments on how they loved it too. We noticed in the evenings as we walked the esplanade it was packed.More

We could watch them cooking their catch every day as we were staying at the Shangri La and overlooked them. Fresh alright. I did think they could offer something extra. Salad. Chips. Bread. Just prawns was a bit boring for the price I thought.
