used to be brilliant. Obviously no longer part of then Koh Ya chain. Spoke to Japanese tourists there, the Japanese guides are still recommending this place. It is rubbish. Avoid!

This restaurant recently changed to "Riki" with different ownership. I used to go to Koh-ya every chance I get so I was pretty excited when it re-opened with nice decor. Service way too slow. Waited a while to get served to start with. Took a while for some slice of raw meat. A girl had to check 3 times to... More

It's like an all you can eat buffet without having to get up. For $40 per person you can order what you want from a select menu all of the food we ordered was delicious and came marinated in wonderful sauces the portions are small but when you can order as much as you like that doesn't matter. The service... More

A friend and I have dined here several times, we always get the banquet and have never been disappointed! Great quality meats and vegetables, lovely miso soup, a unique and enjoyable dining experience as opposed to just sitting and eating a meal. Excellent value for the money but be sure to book as it gets very busy even through the... More

We enjoyed the barbecue at Koh- Ya. It is great to be able to have some of the traditional meats and flavours - beef tongue flavoursome and chicken sinew was good and crunchy. Service friendly and good value. It is a pleasure to get some authentic meals in Cairns CBD - that have not been spoilt b the grab for... More

Was keen to try as i hadn't eaten this kind of food for a while. We got seated and set up quickly and choose the 90min buffet. Food was ok but the ventilation was terrible. So much my eyes were so red by the end and we left before the buffet finished as i did not enjoy the smoke. There... More

I visited Koh-Ya with friends on a recent trip to Cairns. You know you're walking into yakiniku because when it's full, the restaurant is really smoky! You can order from the menu or simply opt for a buffet like option where you can keep ordering till you're full. We opted for the latter and ordered from a big, big range... More

Fresh & tasty buffet whcih includes a variety of soups, meats, salads, vegetables and condiments for a standard price. Guests are given 90mins from the time they place their first order to cook and enjoy their dishes. They cater for groups of all sizes and it really is a fun way to eat. Beef rib soup, beef harami, pork rib... More

Great service - the staff are always friendly and helpful. The buffet is fantastic and the food is marinated and fresh. Only thing is they need more ventilation! Some serious exhaust fans would be great so you don't leave smelling like smoke!
