Quality- excellent. Flavour-excellent. That about sums it up. Set like a little Japenese pub, this very nice resteraunt is in the centre of town is open only for lunch and dinner. It may be a little on the expensive side for most tastes but you get value for money. Very charming staff with very polite wait staff, you will leave full and... More

Food was fantastic. Fast service and enjoyable. My fish Teryaki came with chips that I was unsure about but it was absolutely delicious. Will be back.

I walked in off the street for dinner. Was seated at the bare and ordered a sushi/sashimi plate. Was large and delicious. This place is busy but relaxed. A good place to have a nice Japanese meal without too much formality. I would be happy to visit Matsuri again.

This was a great find in Cairns. Authentic Japanese food served in a restaurant on Abbott Street just back from the Esplanade. You really do feel as though you are in Japan with the Japanese staff and menu choices – and after the long string of larger than you would normally eat meals, a healthy and smaller choice. If you... It was great being able to dine outside, the warm tofu soup and inside out roll was outstanding. Service great and table service would have been awesome. Very clean and fresh food. Yummy!

I went there twice over 5 days during my last stay in Cairns. I thought the food was very tasty. I wouldn't say it was cheap, but I am happy to pay this price for what we got, both quality and size. I would say it is a very good mid-range Japanese restaurant. I tried the sushi rolls, chicken katsu... More

We went here for dinner and we got a seafood soup, very expensive about $22 and they gave us small bits and pieces like tiny prawn and oysters. Not worth the money. Service was average i wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

...just so I could self-indulgently eat my way through the menu with no distractions. We recently visited Japan for the first time, after which it became impossible to frequent the supposed Japanese eateries in Cairns we had been used to. Idling between appointments in Cairns one afternoon, and feeling a spot peckish, I ventured into a small, unassuming-looking Japanese cafe,... More

Ate here twice, on a short visit to Cairns, because we were so pleased with our first visit. Staff are Japanese, and mix of locals and tourists, several of whom were also Japanese. The restaurant describes itself as a Japanese cafeteria, and the food is what one would expect in a small Japanese restaurant, but is of good quality with... More
