Staff were fantastic, Food was delicious and hearty, all encompassed by culture and the Brisbane River. A special mention to your staff, not only friendly but excellent customer service skills. We'll be back!!

First time here and we went for Sunday lunch with friends. Great range of food, wines and cocktails - cocktails were very reasonably priced. For entree we had chickpea fritters with pork belly, salsa verde & fennel and salted cod croquettes between us - wow, absolutely lovely and tasty. For mains, 3 of us had the special, which was short-rib... More

We arranged a business lunch at Alto and found it quite which was very surprising after what we where told. The menu is limited and pricy but it has a good wine list and service is ok as you would expect being not full. I am sure there are other options available in the area. However I must the venue... After being told about the specials and ordering same, the waitress returned to advise that only one special was available. It was just after 7pm, unbelievably early to run out of the main special for the evening. Next, the wrong first course was brought for three of us; after which, we didn't believe that the replacement first courses were what... More

This place used to have a real buzz. To be fair it was a Sunday night and pouring with rain so people were staying in. There were more staff than customers so service should have been impeccable. But no. The maitre d', looking very casual in jeans and untucked shirt seemed less than enthused about his job. And he had... More

Lunch with old friends. The crab gnocchi and zucchini flower risotto were to die for. Zucchini Parmesan chips to share fabulous. Others had Pesce - pan fried salmon - all great

Great river-view location down at the Powerhouse in New Farm. The Italian menu is simple but includes most of the favourites. Some days you can get fresh burrata with prosciutto, honey and figs (excellent) and "Mussels in chilli, garlic, white wine, tomato with ciabata" and "Gnocchi with local spanner crab, chilli, fennel". The meals were excellent and I'd recommend coming... More

I had just finished a meeting near Fortitude Valley and wanted lunch on or near the water before I headed to airport.and found Bar Alto on TA. Bar Alto is inside the Brisbane powerhouse museum and has a wonderful eating area on the balcony overlooking the Brisbane river - stunning views. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay $13 and this... Great location on the river where you can have afternoon drinks overlooking the water then move into this really good Italian themed restaurant. Very good good served by good, casual staff. You MUST try this restaurant/bar and enjoy a Powerhouse show/exhibition while you're there. So come on, don't stand around, make a booking and try it.

The location is unbeatable, overlooking the Brisbane river. The food is very good. Try the spare ribs. Good wine list. None of this comes cheap, though it's not as extortionate as some of the eateries in this area. The service is ok but nothing special. The tables are too close together so any intimacy is lost. It's noisy. Not ideal... More
