After a long absence, my business colleague and I found ourselves at that end of town after a long series of meetings. A short visit to a local bar to wind down, and thoughts turned to dinner. The barman made the booking for us and we walked up the road to E'cco. One of the hallmarks of any great business... More

We lunched at E'cco for our daughters 40th birthday as a table of 8. There were quite a few hiccups with the booking and paying a deposit process so it was with some trepidation we headed for the celebration. From the moment we walked in, everything was perfect. I brought a bottle of wine from home to celebrate the occasion... More

Like many of those who have written reviews in this part I have been eating in this restaurant since it opened, literally for decades. For my part I grew tired of the same menu or at least a menu with many stables long ago .Then more recently it decided to step outside it's established norms and become more interesting and... More

We arrived on a cold Friday for lunch to a near empty restaurant but what a surprise. The interior is elegant but welcoming and the staff super friendly. This was our 44th wedding anniversary so we started with a glass of French champagne while we considered the dining options. We decided to try the tasting menu of 5 courses and... More

A mixed review, but overall a fantastic experience... Pros: 1. The duck was absolutely fantastic. What you'd expect in a fine dining experience. 2. Service was exceptional. The girl who served us was knowledgeable and super friendly. 3. Atmosphere was inviting and had a nice feel to it. 4. Portion sizes were good. Any less, and I'd have been disappointed.... More

My partner and I used our $50 Dimmi voucher here as we've always wanted to dine here but it is a tad expensive. We decided it was worth it just for $50 off. Everything we ate that night was absolutely superb! My favourite meal of the night was the duck, if you go please please order it, my butter knife... More

We had a great dinner at Ecco. We had the tasting menu, a great experience especially the dessert: deconstructed cheese cake, Yum!!! They have a good choice of wines. On the bad side, it was noisy and too long between dishes. Anyway, I recommend this place.

Back in it's hey day E'cco was one of the best restaurants in Brisbane and I was keen to eat there again. Sadly I think it's had it's day. Perhaps it's due to Philip Johnson not being there (least he wasn't when we ate there) but the entire experience was very disappointing. Food looked interesting on the menu but on... More

Huddled away on Boundary St, an understated facade belies the gastronomic epiphanies being prepared inside. The five course tasting menu is stunningly constructed, with balanced dishes that rise theatrically to a crescendo of taste and presentation. The cured trout with oyster emulsion, elderflower, cucumber and buttermilk was delicate, with bursts of acidity tempering the trout, however I did find the... More

Description
To much anticipation by Philip Johnson's strong local following, e'cco bistro opened its doors in 1995, starting what has turned out to be a Brisbane landmark restaurant. Located in an historic building on the fringe of Brisbane's central business district, the century old former tea warehouse oozes with character an ambiance. Almost twenty years on, e'cco underwent a total refurbishment in October of 2014, giving it a contemporary look, yet preserving the inviting, warm bistro feel that has stood the test of time.

As Philip says "We do as little as possible with the best ingredients available."
