We realised when we booked for the 8pm sitting on a Saturday evening in the lead up to Christmas, that the restaurant was likely to be booked to capacity. What we didn't expect, was the lack of staff necessary to make an expensive evening out feel relaxed and enjoyable. Pre-dinner cocktails took 40 minutes to arrive. We joined the queue... More

Went here to celebrate 30th birthday dinner. Accor plus member so got 50% off price which is amazing. It's Christmas themed buffet at the moment. They have a all u can drink wine bar for 35 dollars. Wide selection of food choices prawns, crab claws, small size oysters and mussels. Then there is hot Carvery such as ham and beef.... More

We popped in to the Sofitel for Sunday lunch for my partner's birthday. We booked and therefore we were seated at a nice table by the window looking out over Central station and the GPO. The smorgasbord was very popular and there were large queues for some stations; I do wish people would learn that pushing me in the back... More

The quality of the food and service were, as always, excellent but it seems they're becoming a victim of their own success with an overcrowded, noisy restaurant and a price tag that doesn't really match value for money anymore. We had a fabulous window table overlooking the city but generally speaking the tables were packed too close together throughout the... More

We regret doing it and will never buffet again... A waste of money at $99 per person + drinks! Firstly, one thing they do have going for them is the staff however the quality and amount of food is pathetic. Seafood and dessert are fine but everything else is average, very very average from cheese board, salads to the hot... More

Stayed at the Sofitel and ate in Thyme Restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was disappointing, very crowded, tables too close together. Food is a buffet style and very average. Seafood Buffet has a good selection but other choices very limited! Breakfast is a buffet again very crowded, long wait for a table and tables crammed in. However the buffet... More

Oyster is too salty, tiny, full of sands and shards. Lack of seafood choices and hot food choices. If you a great fan of salad, please come to this place. This is NOT a seafood buffet, its salad buffet.

Sensational quality and range at the Buffet. The a la carte also looks exceptional! We will be back to enjoy the experience again. It really is the best for fresh prawns. Service was 'above reproach'!

Went there for birthday celebration with family when there's half price dining promotion. Overall both the food and service were great with nice atmosphere. Suitable for family and couples dining. However, if compared to my first experience in 2 years ago, the food selection was less now. They used to have kilpatrick oysters and more selections of seafood salads. With... More
