The atmosphere and food was great. Our table of 4 had an amazing experience with the food and wine. The service was helpful and pleasant without being over the top The food was presented well and the waiters explained each dish An overall great experience and highly recommended a place to return and savor the whole menu

Lovely small French restaurant. Seating a little close and on the night we went a large group who were very noisy, but other then that great. Plenty of choice and wine list good.

It was highly recommended by my French friends... BUT ... I reckon they may have forgotten what a good French restaurant is. Food okay. Menu limited (very). Poor choices. Price is okay. Well located in a busy area of Sydney with lots of young(ish) clientele. Service slow. Got the wrong bill (glad I checked). The courtyard is nice (if you... More

We were 2 couples having dinner on a Sunday night in this restaurant and we have been very satisfied with the service , the food and the general atmosphere.Everything was nicely paced, we had plenty of advise about the entree , mains and desserts and what to expect. The dishes we have chosen were delicious, nicely executed and almost perfectly... More

My friend and I went here to celebrate our two birthdays. We booked for lunch and were seated in the courtyard. Perhaps it was because the weather was perfect or perhaps because we had the space to ourselves, we couldn't have asked for a better position. The waitress was so wonderful. She was friendly, called us by name and was... More

Let me be very careful about how I choose to word my statement. I do not want it to be a hyperbole nor do I want to overstate its worth... "Le Pelican's duck breast was simply the best thing I had had in my ENTIRE LIFE." The food here was absolutely amazing and while my friend had an amazing risotto... More

Took the whole family on recommendation of friends living in The Basque country, France. Grandparents, adult children and grandchildren. Now while the menu doesn't especially cater for children, the Maitre D Gilles offered and the Chef prepared two scumptious plates of 'chicken nuggests' for the children, not from a box, succulent crumbed chicken cut into squares, crumbed and crispy served... We wanted somewhere to have dinner outside of the Sydney CBD. We came across Le Pelican and could not have been more happy with the find. The service was very friendly and the food great. The front room could have been a bistro in France while the courtyard out the back was peaceful and with the weather fine and warm,... More

Staying in Surry Hills

Neighborhood Profile
Surry Hills
Once regarded as the traditional fashion area, Surry Hills has broadened its appeal. This neighborhood continues to distinguish itself as a shopping destination, offering the best collection of one-of-a-kind boutiques, designer brands and flagship stores in the city. Today, this area has evolved into a hub of media, design and professional services - a colorful and diverse place equally known for its antique dealers, art galleries, cafes and pubs. Strolling down the street on a Saturday morning, you’ll see a mix of students, artists, hipsters and a few all-nighters from Oxford Street, the “Gay Capital of Sydney”. In this vibrant neighborhood you will find bohemian chic and modern style co-existing side by side.
