We were also planning a birthday celebratory visit. Had booked on line and then tried to call to confirm with no joy. Luckily we spotted another review and were able to change our plans last minute. Such a shame - looked great and the guy on the answer phone sounded so friendly. Hope all is OK

We were supposed to go here for a birthday dinner after booking through a website online, I got a confirmation mail, then a booking reminder on the day but when we got there they're CLOSED UP!, they don't exist anymore!!! Not a word on the website or the answering machine?!?

This little French restaurant is nestled in bustling Surry Hills. It's very cosy and intimate inside which was perfect for dinner as a couple. We were seated in a smaller room with a bar and mock fireplace. The food was very traditional and cooked with French exactement. It was a very comfortable evening - great food, professional non-intrusive service, and... More

I visited Le Pelican today for the first time, and hope it won't be the last. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented & reasonably priced. Service was very friendly, and we were made to feel very welcome. There is indoor & outdoor dining available- try the escargot dish - surprising & very tasty.

I love Le Pelican! I've been walking past this cute little restaurant for years and a year ago finally decided to try it out, based on a recommendation from a friend. I have been back numerous times. It's $50 for two courses, or $60 for three with the option to BYO or they have a great variety of French wines... More

We live not far from le pelican and to be honest being French I don't often bother eating French on Sydney. Each time I have tried le pelican it was packed but this time they had a table for us! We were not disappointed. A little expensive and with a few extra but the quality was great. The bouillabaisse was... More

A couple of mates and I decided to go for a nice meal and night out and with some research ended up at Le Pelican. Being not an adventurous eater, I struggled somewhat with the menu but stuck with the duck and the chicken and had a great meal. The breads were excellent as well and the service was good... More

Either the other reviews here are possibly fake or something has changed dramatically in the kitchen here. We had a very poor meal: - Escargot: tasteless and deep fried in breadcrumbs - Pate: a bland terrine with no evidence of fois gras accompanied with a roll which possibly came from Woolworths - Duck: overcooked and rubbery - Bouillabaise: bland, stale... We booked a table for 6 people at Le Pelican to celebrate my partner's 50th birthday and had a terrific night. Small, interesting menu, great flavours and generous helpings. Service was very good and the lovely room had a great ambience. 3 courses for $60 was amazing value for food of this standard and BYO was a huge plus. Thanks... More

Great spot for lunch and dinner; it is nice to sit in their courtyard on a sunny day though. Food is great, they have some lighter mediterranean style dishes too that work well at lunch. Last visit's fish dish was let down by a slightly salty potato mille-feuille. Service is very friendly though.
