When we arrived at this cute little cafe/restaurant on the harbour, we knew that the prices would be touristy, but we didn't expect this level of bad value for money. The setting is nice, with a 'newstand' feel. I ordered spaghetti bolognese which came filled with water, about half a bowl full of water, separating from the sauce at the... More

Popped in while awaiting a ferry. It was the nearest place from where we could keep an eye on quays. Good service but a bit pricey

Ok, this is not a gourmet restaurant but friendly, fast café style and well priced tucker in a top notch location is what you get. Weather permitting, an outside table is an ideal place to people watch, listen to buskers, watch ferries arrive and depart with glimpses of the bridge (depending on where you sit). We stopped by for a... More

Where else can you get a great breakfast just a stone's throw from Sydney Harbour?! Enjoying bacon and eggs with coffee and watching the goings on around the harbour was a real treat and didn't break the bank! Friendly service, a table by the window and delicious food made this one great start to a busy day in the city.... More

Couldn't hope for friendlier, more accommodating staff and proprietor even checked up on us, and the 90yr old to make sure we were being looked after. We took a quiet spot upstairs in the corner at their suggestion. A good idea, and made it like a private room with a spectacular harbour view. The pavlova birthday cake made to order... More

Stopped here for lunch and say outside. It gives a great opportunity to people watch and have a good tasting lunch. The Fish &Chips were two good sized filets, crispy chips, salad and great bread. Service was good and hospitable.

My wife and I were looking for somewhere to eat after attending Carmen. We ended up trying City Extra after searching TripAdvisor. The best way to describe this restaurant would be as an upscale diner with a fantastic view. We shared the salt and pepper squid as a starter then we both had a burger. Both were diner quality but... Recently visited Sydney and stayed in Macquarie Street near Circular Quay. I was part of a larger group of six people, and both mornings during our Sydney stay we walked down to Circular Quay and had breakfast at City Extra. I can safely say that the breakfasts are good and hearty, and the service is friendly and efficient. I was... More

Sit inside or out. Outside you get a great view of the harbour bridge and cruise ship, but not the opera house. Most meals have chips (French fried potatoes). The Thai chicken was good and the lamb shank was okay. For dessert, the apple crumble was average, the lemon indulgence was very good, and the creme brulee was good. Pleasant... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
