Some friends brought me here for a lunch to celebrate my visit back to Sydney. It was an inspired choice with the perfect combination of excellent food and a stunning view. In the past I have often found that you either get a great view or great food but to get both is a rarity and Cafe Sydney delivered on... More

This place is overrated. Very dark for dinner (you need a torch) and the whole staff think that they are the most important people in the place. Wrong. The customer should be the most important. Also, when you book, it is like they are doing you a favour. Wrong. You are doing them a favour by going. Forgetful food, but... More

We dined at Café Sydney last night for my birthday and I think I will be remembering this one for a long time to come. My partner booked an early dinner out on the terrace which was wonderful as it was such a beautiful evening and the views are as incredible as people tell you. Inside, Café Sydney is not... More

Great location and fabulous views of the harbour especially if you reserve a table on the outside. Book well in advance either way or take an early evening reservation i.e. About 5.30 pm The food is good but not special and is priced accordingly given the location overlooking Sydney harbour. It's Modern Australian fare but whilst you're browsing the menu... More

In the old Customs building, with iconic views, this place is something special. Food, drinks, atmosphere - all as good as you would expect. Beautiful.

On the top floor of the old Customs House which I had never been to and now wish to explore a bit more of, Café Sydney was a great experience. I had booked outside for a 21st lunch and disappointingly it rained so we did have a moment of unsureness as the inside was fully booked. The staff however were... More

Some history - many years ago I was about to book this place but was told they charge a 10% fee for bookings of 10 or more. This is regardless of the level of service you receive. So I never went. Recently, I was asked by a friend from interstate to recommend a restaurant for her 60th, so I recommended... More

The awesome view and great service were the highlights to a business dinner recently had at this Sydney restaurant. The food was above average with the servings on the smaller side. This is s special location and the dessert of Carmel tart was one of the best I have ever had (don't miss this if you are s chocolate fan).... More

I ate hear as part of a group in July had we had a fantastic meal. The restaurant sits atop the old Customs House with a spectacular view of Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge, and the Sydney Opera House. The food was delightful, from the salad to the dessert. We had a fixed menu for the group but the restaurant... More

On the top floor of a historical building on the Quay with great views and food. The oysters are delicious and the wine list is large. Recommended

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
