We came here with a group of people and it was fantastic . It was a late dinner and the whole restaurant was packed out. We had numerous of curries and different meals and everything was superb. They accidentally gave us the wrong food and when we asked about it they made the right meal as fast as possible and... More

Was taken here by a client the first time, but have been back since with friends and absolutely loved it. The location is brilliant (overlooking Darling Harbour), the service is fabulous - and the food is excellent. We honestly haven't ordered anything we don't like yet. We definitely plan on going again - would definitely recommend it.

We made a last minute reservation and luckily got a table on a Friday night. The atmosphere was very lively and the open kitchen gave it an authentic feel. The food was very delicious, however a little too oily for my liking. The service was decent, although we did wait until after we had our starters for our cocktails to... More

We arrived at 7pm to find the place booked out. They found a place for us if we could be out by 8pm. We asked tge waitress for suggestions and went with Massaman Beef and Eggplant. Both signature dishes. They arrived promptly. There were 13 cooks in the kitchen. The food was very tasty and we recommend those two dishes...you... More

Surprisingly busy early on a Sunday evening. Friendly and efficient service who were quite helpful with items on the menu. The Beef Rendang was excellent, with a few Tiger beers. A very enjoyable meal. It is worth booking a table to get a view over Darling Harbour.

I went here last night for a friends 30th birthday. It was my first time trying Malaysian food and I was BLOWN away. The flavours, the perfection of how it was cooked was incredible. Not to mention the amazing food but it is THE BEST customer service ever! I think all restaurants should be going to get trained by the... More

I have lived in Thailand for many years and travelled around Asia, and this is authentic as it gets, great food, would like to come back and try more of the menu! The service was excellent. Friendly and efficient. Would advise to book as busy, but we were lucky and they got us a table.

We visited the Malaya on Chinese New Year and had a strict two hour booking window. I thought we might be pushing it but the service was quick without making you feel rushed and the food was AMAZING! My fussy children found things they liked and on some dishes we dialled up the chilli and really enjoyed it. Ask for... More

There's always a risk in going back to somewhere after a long gap but this return trip to the Malaya proved that quality endures. The menu remains long on Malay favourites with a few new (to me) additions like salt and pepper cauliflower. Classic starters like popiah and otak otak are superbly well-crafted and arrive to table very swiftly. The... More

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighborhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to DJ's. Families can visit the Chinese Garden of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Australian National Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
