Had lunch there today -- brilliant, tasty food with a view over Darling Harbour. What more could one ask?

Love the waterfront location of The Malaya and the fact that they don't cover it up. It's spacious and the seating is comfortable. They even have a small lounge if you're too early or are waiting for a table. It's quite popular and busy, so reserving a table is recommended. The food is spectacular. We had the chicken satay, fish... More

Decided to book here upon reviews from TA. We were welcomed well and shown our table which was by the window, as were most tables for couples. Food was excellent and at a reasonable price. View over Darling Harbor was a bonus.

Friends took me out for dinner here last week - as per usual could not fault the ambiance, views, food, service or company. Can recommend the following menu choices : Otok Otok, Crab San Choy Bow, chicken satay skewers, Kapitan King Prawns, Black Pepper Chicken, Salt and Pepper King prawns, and the roti bread with a spicy dipping sauce. Whilst... More

We visited with a real connoisseur or Malaysian food and great wines from everywhere. He suggested the degustation menu and very fine Tasmanian Riesling to match. After a Tsing Tao and few moments to savour the menu, the courses began to come. One great taste after another. Continuously for over an hour. My colleagues were very knowledgeable re the foods... It's a big place, which definitely compromise the dinner, if you want to have the least of a conversation. Yet the view on Darling Harbour is pleasant and the food very well prepared and, as I like, on the quite spicy side. Would recommend the tasting menu, which is for big eaters with over 8 different dishes. The fried eggplants...... More

What a shame. I've eaten here twice before and really enjoyed the experience, but tonight was ruined by finger pointing between the Malaya and Dimmi. Looking for a night out with my wife sans kids (a rare and special occasion) we chose to book here based on previous visits. Being IT savy we booked online, which is supported by Dimmi.... More

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighborhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to DJ's. Families can visit the Chinese Garden of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Australian National Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
