We made a booking for 7pm and we arrived at 715pm. It was packed to the roof. So glad we reserved our table. By this time, sukiyaki was out of stock. We observed that 2 out of 3 tables had at least 1 sukiyaki. I was bummed as that's my favourite dish. We ordered other dishes and they didn't disappoint... More

Nakashima offers a variety of lunch bento boxes to pick from - the bento boxes includes your choice of mains (eg Teriyaki Chicken, Teriyaki Fish, Pork Maki etc ), miso soup, sashimi, sushi... and some fried items. The price for each bento box averages $18.50. Good value for a nice lunch - you will be full. Go on a Friday... More

Hidden in a pedestrianised lane, Nakashima is one of The Rocks’ best kept dining secrets. I have been going for lunch at Nakashima for over 10 years, but haven't been in a long while. Its still the best Teriyaki chicken ever that I have had. Yes, its small & if you don't know where it is, you may not be... More

A friend booked and gave us the address. The hotel concierge couldn't locate Cambridge St on computer maps and the cabbie couldn't find it. Eventually we waited at a hotel we thought might be close and our friend came looking for us. Worth looking for, though, as the food and service was excellent and quite inexpensive.

We dined here tonight and even though we had a small order the service was good and the food was fresh, well presented and tasty.

A number of menu items not available but a reasonable selection could be made from the items which were. The beef was pick of the dishes but the salads bulked up with iceberg lettuce which could have done with more leaf and less stalk. Tempura was reasonable but chicken a little too dried out and could have done with more... More

Dined here on a Tuesday night and the service was terrible. We waited 40 mins for our food and dishes arrived at different times. It wasn't that busy. I had the udon and the serving was quite small. It had some large pieces of shallots, 2 small pieces of carrot and a soggy prawn tempura. It is fairly expensive at... More

WARNING: Terrible Service! This was our first evening in Sydney and the only thing we were tasting was fresh sushi. Our hotel recommended this spot and since it was around the corner we decided to give it a try. We walked up to the Nakashima and the place was full all but a 4 person table outside. Thinking this was... More

On a side street off Argyle, the restaurant offers a variety of dishes ranging from snacks through sushi and noodle dishes. All are prepared well in a no frills atmosphere that is refreshingly different from the many overpriced restaurants in the Rocks district. There is both indoor and outdoor seating in a quiet setting.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighborhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighborhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
