Visited here last year and it was absolutely perfect so had no hesitations bringing more visitors from overseas here for my birthday celebrations! It was just as good, the setting is stunning food is fresh scones are warm and tea is refilled regularly. Service is always friendly and its great value compared to Sydney prices. Can't wait for another occasion... More

I visited 'The Tearoom' on a Saturday night for my friends wedding reception. The room itself is beautiful, with high, detailed ceilings and lovely chandeliers. The food was also very nice. I was served pulled pork for entree, beef for main and a chocolate cake for dessert. All tasted great and wee generous servings given that it was a wedding.... More

English tea place with a large selection ofbteas, I believe over 40 different types. They sell tea by person and would not allow to share a pot. Service is polite but impersonal. What is it here in Australia that people are so wary of giving you napkins. The tea was good. Did not have tea sandwiches or biscuits.

Was really looking forward to my morning tea, but unfortunately the whole experience was very underwhelming. The service was terrible and the hosts and servers certainty were not friendly or welcoming. When my two little niece's arrived the host wanted to hide the stroller away in the back room...we had to tell him there was actually a baby in there!... More

What a wonderful experience! Having never experienced a high tea (or low tea, as it were) at home, I was more than pleasantly surprised by The Tea Room. The space itself screams elegance; the staff are knowledgeable and professional; and the food was excellent. I highly recommend stopping in for tea if you have the chance.

I went with a group of friends and had high expectation for this place. They had a nice selection of really good tea, but the food was just so so really. Nothing stood out, left no impression. Portion was bigger than it should be. Service was good, the ambiance was supposed to be high-end but it was just alright. There... More

This would be the perfect break from a girl's day out shopping. Alternatively THE place to take your grandma or mother for a Mother's Day treat. We didn't leave hungry and enjoyed gazing at the high ceilings and giant chandeliers.

I love high tea. I love history and architecture. I love Royal Albert. I love fine food. They all come together in The Tea Room, located in the top level of the Queen Victoria Building and accessible by one lift - so if you are trying at the Hobbyco end you need to walk to the other side. Remember to... More

It's a lovely place to spend an afternoon. The food was good, but nothing too special. Very standard traditional afternoon tea treats. Long list of teas if you're into trying something new. Our server was wonderful! Took his time to answer our questions and ensure we had everything we need.

We didn't plan to have high tea by walking pass the restaurant. Glad we stopped and looked at what they have offered. Had a great experience high tea with romantic environment with my partner! We could not finish all as they were quite lots!!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
