Have been eating at Phillips Foote on and off for over 30 years and it has not changed at all in that time and for good reason. This well located restaurant / bar is placed near the epicentre of The Rocks and is a great...launching pad for an evening in the city. A very simple formula where you cook your own meat on a BBQ and then access a well appointed salad bar wins over locals and overseas guests every time. Highly recommended.More

My wife and I ate here on our last night in Sydney on our recent trip to Australia. Cooking our own steaks on the BBQ seemed like a great idea!! What a great decision it turned out to be!! The very friendly staff explained how...the restaurant worked - choose your meat/fish, cook it on the BBQ (full instructions re cooking times clearly displayed), and help yourself to huge choice of delicious, freshly prepared accompaniments (salads/roasted veg/potatoes). It was so nice to see a choice of potatoes rather than just chips!!! The portion of meat was generous, to say the least. My wife's fillet was at least 300g, my T-bone nearer to 500g plus. We had great fun cooking our steaks (to perfection!!), then eating our meals al fresco, accompanied by a super pale ale. Just a perfect Valentine's Day meal. Thank you. We highly recommend 'Phillips Foote' Restaurant.More

Great idea choosing some succulent meat; barbecuing oneself and then adding salad and vegetables. So good we went twice

This place is super cute. You have to read up on the history of it to really appreciate. The outdoor area is cute for a date and for groups. You get to pick your meat and your cut and cook it to your liking using...the info on the walls. Unlimited sides, salad/veg etc. What is there not to love!More

This is a DYI steak and fish restaurant which may not appeal to all diners. You can’t complain about how the food is cooked since you did it yourself. Prices are average for this area and it is a popular spot. A real piece of...Sydney history. Worth a visit.More

This historic spot in the Rocks provides a multitude of excellent desserts as well as full service restaurant entrees. We went the dessert route, and went with the apple crumble and the chocolate cake - both were amazing. The cake was very rich and the...apple pie was chock full of apples that were cooked just right. This is a great spot in the Rocks to get a meal or a snack.More

Overpriced and overrated. We paid $75.00 for a steak and a fish we had to cook on a BBQ that wasn’t very hot. There were other people all trying to cook their food on the same plate and only two food tongs. The staff hardly...checked on us. We were with other friends. We all left unimpressed. Save your money and spend it at a nice restaurant where they will look after you.More

It helps if you have a good chef in your group. Luckily our friend is a great chef so cooked our steaks to perfection. The group next to us were pretty ruining their meals! So yes, it’s a good idea, but only if you have...somewhere who is reasonable at cooking!More

Loved this place a really gem in Sydney. Might not be every ones taste and normally I don’t like places you cook your own food. The steak (fillet) was really good and the salad bar excellent. Bar at the front reminds me of a very...English pub but the beer garden is lovely out the back! Would come back again.More

Unusually arranged for us. You pick the kind of meat that you like, buy it and cook yourself. Salat bar is included. Drinks have to buy at the bar in other building. Too many people, But the food was great and we loved it.
