We arrived just before midday and the place was busy but we were seated quickly and the trolley's came by straight away. We enjoyed a large variety of dumplings which were all delicious along with sticky rice and rice noodle rolls. A little on a the pricey side for lunch but good quality and attentive service.

What can you say about this place? Front of house staff greeting diners and seating them with preoccupied frowns. Crowded chaotic dining. Trolley jockeys trying to get every variety of dim sum the kitchens create onto your table in the first three minutes. Need to hijack trolleys to get more food if you want to pace the experience and haven't... More

We went here as a group of ten for dinner and were delighted with the food and the service. As I was the only person not originally from Hong Kong, I left the ordering in the hands of others. As often happens, it was less a case of ordering and more one of negotiating the best combination of dishes with... More

The only place that I will take friends who have never had Yum cha. The large size of the restaurant really makes the true hustle and bustle with trolleys and people of Yum Cha an authentic experience especially for the Yum cha novice. I come here with my family as well when we are in town. Staff can be unfriendly.... More

The wife said we needed to try their yum cha when in Sydney - good write-ups in mags and press. Not sure when, but they need to re-assess/review. Very ordinary and pricey, compared to the quality we have come accustom to in Perth - especially our Northbridge yum chas. Service is very poor, and food generally cold and poor standard.... More

Haven't been to Marigold for quite a while. We went early lunch on Thursday and overall the food was good and service adequate, quite a long wait for trolleys to come around and selection pretty limited comoared to other yum cha places. . The pork buns were fabulous. Sadly the restaurant decor with chandeliers etc was let down by apalling... More

We had a great time, this was a return visit for us! Carts circulated constantly with all sorts of yummy treats - duck, asian greens in soy sauce, congee, chickens feet, steamed buns and a huge range of dumplings. Mango pancakes were a delightful way to finish the meal. Service is super fast and bustling, so if you order drinks... More

All was great! Wish they had the crispy roast pork, but was unavailable on the day. Got the duck instead and boy was that good. The mango pancakes were the cherry on top.

It was a very disappointing recommendation, they sat us right next to the waiter station and I think they were having their own little competition to see who made the most noise,we were asked 3 times for drinks orders then waited for quite awhile for food orders. Then the food!! I think my dog would have struggled with the beef fillet,I... More

We used to go to The Marigold a lot a few years ago and then it just seemed to slip from our radar so we thought we would give an old favourite a revisit. Its lost a bit of its shine, the place feels jaded and flat. The food is just below par Yum Cha. Acouple of things were good... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighborhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theater, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
