Really enjoyed Longrain. The Staff were on to off it all, helpful, friendly and efficient. The food was fresh and tasty and was a step up in quality from the average. The whole establishment was buzzing and it was fun the eat there. Would definitely go again.

The food overall was very good. The issue is that the tables are too large and that they are managed as community tables negatively impacting on dinner conversations when groups are too close to each other. Also as there seems to be no noise cancelling material the place when full like when we went becomes very loud making the restaurant... More

We came as a large group for end of year Xmas celebration. As we came in in small groups it was difficult to find anyone to seat us or later take drinks orders. Finally were shown to 3 tables when we had prebooked a communal table. Reluctantly they moved us to the right table where we sat and sat and... More

We had not been for a while (probably 3 - 4 years) and thought we would try it again and were very glad we did....we decided to have the set menu and the food was really good and just the right amount...the staff were good too...friendly, efficient and helpful with the wines!.

Unfortunately it failed to live up to its reputation. The tables are quite large and the conversion of the stand up tables to sit down tables - albeit with really large chairs, is a fail, especially for shorter people. The idea of sitting groups on one side of a table where it is difficult to have a conversation with each... More

Thanks for setting up a table for 10 with 15 minutes notice. Great atmosphere and service, catered for both vegan and halal eaters as well as gluten free..... all meals are made to share and we weren't disappointed with anything. A nice place with a different feel as all tables are long and you get to sit beside strangers..... I... More

We came here as it was highly recommended by my sister who lived in Melbourne. I came with high expectations, however these were not met at the slightest. The service was really good and the cocktails were decent, however the food seemed very average. We had a starter to share and a couple of mains with rice (you can order... More

One of my favourite restaurants in Sydney. The food always tastes so fresh and vibrant. The service can be slow at times and I find many of their staff don't know much about the wines they have but I still keep coming back for the food.

Description
Longrain Sydney is located at 85 Commonwealth St in Surry Hills.

Inspired by the communal eating philosophy of the Asian table, our menu is made up of dishes created for sharing. Longrain's menu has evolved from Martin Boetz's original Longrain vision, bringing South East Asian influences to carefully sourced ingredients with fresh, zingy flavours. His vibrant menu is carefully balanced with wines and cocktails chosen by restaurateur Sam Christie. Our long, shared tables encourage the spirit of eating together, so you can try each dish as part of a full tasting experience, just as it was intended (limited reservations available).

Book one of our individual tables for parties between 6 - 10 people; or Private Dining Room for 12-18 guests.
