This is a really good fusion restaurant. The flavour is Thai but dont expect lot of heat. It is mild. A bit too mild for my liking but the food is excellent. Try the tamarind fish / the standout dish. Very good if not exciting fare. Great service.

The group I was with went to the Longrain for an end of course dinner and found it to be extremely expensive for an Asian style restaurant. For a Banquet meal (of which there was only one) it cost $65.00 per person not including drinks which were also expensive for Sydney. Yes the food was quite good as it should... More

The restaurant offers a sensational thai-fusion menu. The service is impeccable and the ambience very classy. The cocktails deserve a special mention, as they are sensational. You can also ask for classic, off-the-menu drinks, and they will knock you off your socks!

The betel leaf starter is a must! Everything on the menu looks good. Go with a big group of people so you can share more dishes. There were only 2 of us and we can only eat so much.

Arriving with a booking of a Saturday evening (plenty of metered parking on surrounding streets) - it took a good 5 minutes for us to be seated as there is no door greeter. Immediately, we noticed that the music was way too loud. When we were seated on a round table (great seating - provides some privacy), our table of... More

Indeed, the flavors were quite bold and the food really good. The beer selection was excellent and service attentive. So why not 5/5? For some reason I did not find the food memorable. It was good, but did not wow me.

Now this is the restaurant to beat all restaurants in Sydney. I had no idea of what was on the menu. It was Double Dutch to me. WHAT! a Thai style restaurant with no Chicken Green/Red/Yellow Curry. It was all foreign to me. Fortunately I had more educated friends with me that were Sydney based and had been coming to the... We had a delightful lunch at Longrain. The tasting menu read very well, but we settled on 2 share dishes. The prawn and pork salad was delicious. Such refreshing flavours. The. Massaman curry was rich and so tender. Great atmosphere. We would love to return for dinner.

I was recommended to go here while in Sydney for the weekend. We made last minute reservations and the hostess was very accommodating. We sat at the bar but that didn't matter. The food was great. The cocktails also. The portions were very big and we definitely over ate. I highly recommend it

Definitely one of the best restaurants I've ever been to! The food was amazing & the service was impeccable. Our waiter Bart was very attentive & had a great personality which made the whole experience second to none. The cocktails were also good & any bar that has Ciroc is always a winner in my eyes! Highly recommend this place!... More

Longrain Sydney is located at 85 Commonwealth St in Surry Hills.

Inspired by the communal eating philosophy of the Asian table, our menu is made up of dishes created for sharing. Longrain's menu has evolved from Martin Boetz's original Longrain vision, bringing South East Asian influences to carefully sourced ingredients with fresh, zingy flavours. His vibrant menu is carefully balanced with wines and cocktails chosen by restaurateur Sam Christie. Our long, shared tables encourage the spirit of eating together, so you can try each dish as part of a full tasting experience, just as it was intended (limited reservations available).

Book one of our individual tables for parties between 6 - 10 people; or Private Dining Room for 12-18 guests.
