My wife and I recently visited and thoroughly enjoyed the tapas menu. Mushrooms, calamari, chorizo and prawns with a bottle of Sangre de Toro which was superb.

Lovely little Spanish tappas restaurant. You can choose as many dishes that you like - most are around the $14.00 - $16.00 range. Crusty bread also served. Drinks also reasonably priced. On one night, three of us dined well for under $70.00 (drinks not included). Two of us returned a few nights later and ate & drank very well for... More

Good menu, tasty food, excellent service, good atmosphere and reasonably priced. We did not book on a Wednesday night and got the last table. Next time we will book.

My first stop whenever in Sydney, the place never stops giving. The staff are always most welcoming and the atmosphere is from another time. Had an Amber beer on arrival, then ordered a tapas sized garlic prawns to enjoy while my favourite 'Combinado Mariscus' was being orchestrated. the mariscus consisted of mussels, cockles, chunks of fish, calamari, king prawns and... The place has some ambience of a Castillan restaurant, EXCEPT for a misplaced Mexican guitarist/singer. The place is somewhat echoey, so this Mexican singing just ruins Spanish feel. Hence my 4-Star rating. Otherwise, the food is very well prepared. Very fresh salad (a measure of a good restaurant). The tapas are excellent piping hot, quite a larger portions than a... More

I have been coming here to this restaurant for 18 years. I have to say that this place never changes. The food is the same quality that it was when I first came here. I wouldn't be still coming if it wasn't. The service is still friendly and the Sangria still yummy. Hopefully will still be coming in another 18... More

Captain Torres has some good "Tapas for 2" but nothing that makes you go Wow thats worth coming back for. The Paella on the surrounding tables smelled amazing though and might be worth another visit. Just be warned if you don't like a noisy restaurant, take your earplugs for when the Spanish dancers start their routine.

During a weekend stay in Sydney, my partner and I decided to go for a walk to see what dinner options were around. We looked at a few places and came to the decision to try something different and we were very glad that we did. Not only was the food amazing, but the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We... More

Went to Capitan Torres for a Sunday lunch and it was quieter than I expected. We had an array of entrees as tapas ( although we could have chosen the cheaper tapas) as well as two seafood grills ( main meals ) and it was more than enough for five people. The food was fresh, well presented and plentiful. The... More

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighborhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theater, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
