the main attraction is a phenomenal wine list but the food was very disappointing. Out of 5 or 6 courses, only one is something I would wish to eat again. Generally it was poorly presented. They have not figured out how to serve 'sharing' dishes...when there are 3 people. It is very clumsy to expect 3 people to share from 2 bowls. It should be one or three. I got the distinct feeling that the only person who was enjoying all this was the chef.More

We were staying nearby and booked and came in and the food and wine were excellent. We would highly recommend it.

Our first time at the CBD location of Monopole. Love the menu, all designed to share but could be ordered for a la carte. Service and timing perfect throughout. An extensive and interesting wine list, not for the budget concious. Quality dining experience in attractive...surrounds.More

Birthday celebrations are meant to be special and dinner at this place did just that. I thoroughly enjoyed the Monopole set/tasting menu and I tell you, it’s exquisite! 👌

It’s a modern European dining and wine bar. Love the contemporary cool interiors with an open kitchen separated from the bar section. Chic yet casual place to be.One of the best chicken liver parfait i had tasted. Food is definitely above average to my liking.... Great service and never overboard. Bon Appetit!More

Great bar, excellent service and a pretty good happy hour to boot. Wines are however solidly marked up, but if you like a great variety of wine tasty food options, in a comfortable setting, this is worth a look.

I hesitate to downgrade my review to average because ( as my Fork review detailed) the beginning was a bit shakey.. I now must report my main Baked Swordfish main wasn’t as good as I reckon it ought to have been… the flesh hadn’t the...characteristic‘firmness’ normally associated with this fish..& maybe it was the cooking method ( it’s usually pan cooked ) .. but it was a bit mushy.. & coupled with being served in a shallow bowl (??? I suppose the chef reckons plates not fish -fashionable any longer ?) & therefore with a knife & fork, extremely awkward to eat .. I was quite disappointed. My husband really had to convince the ( otherwise utterly charming waitperson) he must have his lamb main NOT pre-sliced by the kitchen ! She wasn’t having any of that, but finally gave in & said she would “ask” the kitchen if it was “possible”. This nonetheless of course was possible..the tough ordering debacle therefore completely unnecessary ! If the meat isn’t cut before cooking it doesn’t have to be cut before plating. QED. There’s so much to be happy about with Monopole’s offering it’s a pity one details aren’t quite right - we recommend coming here- but with qualifications.More

First time dining since the location change and just as impressive as I recall. Im not a fan of sharing menus however I think they seem to pull it off well – It helps with equal amounts to share. The 30% discount via The Fork...certainly helped out when it came to the bill.More

More goodness in Potts Point In the competitive market of Potts Point hides Monopole and I say hides because it is closed off during the day so you could easily miss it walking along McLeay Street. Great bar and restaurant with pleasant staff. The shared...entrée of eggplant and chickpea chip was mediocre, the mains were of Wagyu Tartare and blue cod were beautiful. The favourite however was dessert - Buttermilk + Coconut + Brioche + Black Lime. I could taste all these flavours and savoured each mouthful. The cheese platter looked appetising. Nice ambiance, food is on the expensive side with blue cod being $40.00. Thoroughly enjoyed our carafe of wine. There is a tasting menu for $75.00 & I believe Monopole is open till late.More

Nice ambience - a pleasant retreat in the busy neighbourhood of Potts Point on Macleay Street. Very nice, friendly service. Delicious food - the meat dishes were so tender. The potato with seaweed butter as a side was very yummy. Very nice desserts. Good wine...list. Not cheap.More

Most appalling service by our waiter - he was extremely rude and unprofessional. We would have had a better than average experience if not for him, but because of him it was one of the worst dining experiences ever. We followed up on our food...as we were left waiting for our mains for quite a long time and were told very condescendingly that we had not waited that long. As it was a celebration, we took some photos with flash to commemorate the occasion and we were told by the same waiter to stop as “this is not a photo studio. If you need to take photos hire a photographer. This is inappropriate”. We saw on Instagram that many people had taken photos here so we were unsure why we were targeted in particular - we speculate perhaps racist. We do not recommend to go here at all as you can find restaurants with better food and MUCH better service in the area. We’re so disappointed as we had heard good reviews.More

Wonderful food, excellent, personalised service from our charming waiter (though the older guy with glasses seemed a bit awkward). Dark and moody interior. Drinks are expensive though! Funny how all the East Asians were seated together in the rear of the restaurant lol. Amazing food,...certainly a winner.More
