Sydney has a lot of good pubs, but as an American every now and then I fancy a proper bar. This place has the goods. Massive whiskey selection and the bartenders can whip up more or less any drink you can think of with some flare. No food menu, but some snack mix to snack on in between cocktails.

We enjoyed some Whisky on the rocks here and Whisky cocktails. The selection is huge and the bar staff are very knowledgeable. The stairs behind the bar they use to get the different bottles are really fun. Good luck finding the entrance!

This place is known for its Scotch whisky's and whiskys alone. They have nothing else.Full stop. Not even a food menu. Excellent environment. Nice music. If you are a scotch lover I bet they have the widest list to choose from in entire Sydney. I tried a couple of cocktails and scotch. It was lovely. Why the hell they don't... More

I saw the reviews for this bar, and read that it was tucked away. We seriously lucked out in walking down the right alley on our way to dinner elsewhere on the off chance that we had found the spot. So after dinner we checked out The Baxter Inn. OMG this place just oozes atmosphere. It was 9.30pm on a... More

Huge whiskey selection. I'm a novice and the barman was very accommodating for my lack of knowledge. Great ambiance. It's a great bar for 2 drinks but wasn't hooked to stay for more than 2 drinks, but maybe that just me and what I like.

It was such a surprise when I first went down the stairs. All dim lights,, candles and the largest range of whisky in a golden light, I have ever seen. Not that I like whisky but that doesn't matter the experience is what you want. You certainly won't forget it. Can't wait to go back to show some friends. Great... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
