We were recommended this bar by a bartender at another bar because we were hoping to get some food. The server we had was slow and recommending items on the menu that were sold out. The cocktails were not made well and I was only able to drink a little. The lamb burger was really like BBQ. It had way... More

Stitch is a nice small bar downstairs from York St (look for the sewing machines). Dark atmosphere, Blues soundtrack, great selection of drinks including a fine selection of Ardbeg Whisky and a good selection of what I would style American Bar Food; Hotdogs, Burgers, Fries etc

Delivered it through Uber Eats, was feeling like snacky type food. Got Curly Fries ($6), Smoked Hot Wings ($12), BBQ Corn ($6) and Mac & Cheese Balls ($12). I guess it didn't help that the delivery person was just hanging around for a while, not sure if they were trying to find the place or what, either way - our... More

It's a little hidden gem tricky to find, the entry of which is giving you the feeling you are just about to enter wonderland of stitching. Taking stairs down to the basement level, the bar looks what a bar should be, nicely decorated, comfortable and relaxing with low light and not too noisy. Cocktails are pricey but are nice. Interesting... More

This is an interesting restaurant/bar with a dark basement allure. It wasn't as packed as I thought it would be and was surprised with the extent of the menu. It caters for that American bar style food - wings, fries, tacos, burgers - hot and spicy. The drinks were reasonably priced as well as the food. It was not fine... More

Love grandmas old retro sewing machine in the ground at the entrance..a nice quirky touch! Another basement bar- this one has an American touch with the cocktails and the food. macaroni cheese balls and pork crackling - serves for the crackling could be larger.. The mac cheese balls were soo yummy! The service was terrific and the cocktails were great.... More

Went here after midnight with about 15 stragglers after a reunion nearby..traverse down the stairs to an underground bar which serves up great whiskey cocktails, but other drinks too. Tables and booths as well, music was great but not overbearing or loud. Decor was sensational and takes you back in time - the atmosphere was great. Service was good. Wynyard... More

Cute little bar. Not too noisy. Mixed crowd. Different ages. Good service. Sewing machine decor as you walk down the stairs. Tables and booths. Open till 2 am weekends which is rare for such a small bar. Good place for a date night as not too noisy.

This is Sydney's Ardberg Embassy... Amongst the handful of bars around the world representing the iconic whisky house from the mighty Island of Islay!! It's a hidden bar in the basement on the York street, very close to Wynyard train and bus stand and a short walk from QVB. Lined with sewing machines at the entrance and lovely cosy bar... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
