Franca is a wonderful experience – from the service, the bar, the food and the atmosphere – a true French high-end bistro.
Service from entry to exit was friendly, attentive and professional. Here were enough people available when you needed something, and not so many that they were always asking if everything is OK every 5 minutes.
The cocktails are inventive and interesting. In fact, the barman was the best part of the night. Once he knew our interests – single malt highland whiskys and Negronis – he was happy to discuss, show bottles and create something with our favourites.
Food is inventive and, except for one exception, generous like a French bistro should be.
We started with the Tuna tartare (we would have like the Wagyu tartare, but it’s pre-mixed and one of the diners has allergies) which, in addition to incredibly fresh tuna, had little surprise pops of refreshing watermelon and salty caviar. Every mouthful was a delight.
We ordered a main of the gnocchi to share as an entree, and this was the only disappointment of the evening. When it was placed in front of us, we said to the waiter that they must have accidentally ordered the entrée size rather than the main. No, we were told, that’s the main serve. It was about 12 gnocchi with some sauce. Whilst it had lovely creamy notes on the palate, it left a sour note on the mind in terms of lack of generosity. I wouldn’t order it again (and regret ordering it then ☹ ).
We shared the large Chateaubriand (600g $200), - which, as a family with a French background, who have lived in France and regularly eat at French restaurants, is the dish we measure one by – agreed that this was easily the best we have had. The cook on the meat, the carefully crafted sides, each one complementary and not overbearing the meat, the sauces, all incredible. We would come again and again and again just for this dish (and the cocktails 😊). It’s only on a Sunday and only until sold out.
We had the chocolate souffle and Franca slice. The souffle was incredible. Again, a winner and what we would have on return. The Franca slice we found unusual – the combination of pistachio and cherry did not sit well for us.
Franca is definitely on our repeat visit list, although we would ask more questions about dishes before we order them.

I live directly opposite Franca's Restaurant and whenever my nephew from the Central Coast stays with me for a weekend he always comments on the lively and elegant atmosphere that emanates from this restaurant.
So, on his visit this weekend we decided to dine at Franca and we ordered the full fruits der mer, and we weren't disappointed. Excellent meal, superb service, and attractive ambience. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening. Regards, Peter

Four of us stopped by Franca recently for dinner; once settled at a comfortable table, in a spacious setting, we chose king fish tartare, linguini, snapper, whole grilled chicken (to share), broccolini and butter lettuce.
We drank Catalina White ($14 per glass), Young Henrys ($8), with the usual waters, soft drinks, coffee and tea.
The food is very good, served on hot plates, with no surprises. The bill came to $300 with tip. A pleasant evening out, we shall return.

Extremely disappointing. We first waited 5 minutes to be greeted for seating. Staff friendly but inexperienced. Food is extremely ordinary, overpriced and the mains , fries and beans were served cold. The manager was attentive and tried to make up for it but waiting for food to be reserved ruined the evening and experience.
Nice space but food falls extremely short .

Very disappointing, went for a romantic Christmas dinner with my wife, arrived 7.30pm, they had finished serving 3 course by 8.15pm - atrocious. They rushed the courses, and the wait staff were all young inexperienced servers, no consistency at the tables, we were almost forgotten. We had to chase them for drinks service, often several young staff would walk past the table, see empty glasses or dishes and just keep walking. Food was very average at best, the sirloin was tough, the duck was chewy. $400 waste of money.

I’d give this 3.5 stars rather than 3.
Stunning room and great location. Service was mixed… a great Belgian waiter but the others seemed a bit hit and miss and sommelier seemed very snooty to me.
Snacks and Starters excellent… mains were disappointing… short rib of beef was dry and lacked any flavour. I was expecting some type of braised beef but really was quite awful. Chicken was ok but no more than that.
Overall I’d say this is a bit pretentious and could be better.

Whilst the Fratelli fitout has been transformed, the restaurant isn’t overly warm or opulent. Acoustics is a major problem, they have tried placing large chunks of foam under the tables but still very noisey.
The centrally featured wine room, framed in glass, has unfortunately been turned into a store room / dumping ground with boxes, packaging, Bunnings step ladder clearly on display. Either tidy up the mess or shield the glass.
Sirloin steak was chewy and tough and the French fries were served luke warm.
The sommelier is very pushy and only recommends $90+ bottles.
As others have described, a 6.30pm sitting is allocated 2 hours dining, however, service is slow. After finishing our main courses at around 8.30pm we were hurried along, given dessert menus but told we would need to order and eat dessert quickly and there would not be enough time to order their signature passionfruit soufflé. We ordered the apple tarte tatin and the creme brûlée instead which were both excellent. The pastry chef should be commended. It was apparent the 8.30 reservation to follow us were left waiting at the bar.

We were a group of four, we had an absolutely outstanding meal , beautiful wine and exceptional service.
The restaurant has a great fitout & vibe.
One thing that was very disappointing was that our early sitting time frame had expired and we were offered coffee at the table quickly or at the bar, we decided to do the hospitable thing and forfeit the table and move to the bar.
That was our mistake, once we paid the meal bill the gentleman that suggested this was not interested in getting us coffee or our partners there dessert wine.
The bar area was extremely busy, as were the staff, but the staff member in question needs to understand that the job at hand was not complete and should have gone out of his way to make sure we were served straight away not make us stand there as if we were in the pub down the road .Its poor form to debate with a customer and brush off about and refer to a 2 hour sitting.
Charging top dollar & taking the customers money then disregarding them after they vacated the table to make it easier for him was poor and unprofessional.
We will return but will be mindful but will make sure our meal is complete before we pay the bill.
Unfortunately he upset a great rap on Franca

Really disappointed by this venue. While the decor and vibe was beautiful, the service was rushed and waiters were pushy and rude. Putting presssure on our table to get cocktails and up sell. It wasn’t the vibe and was pretty uncomfortable. Gnocchi was impressive however the Steak and fries and soufflé were very underwhelming. For the price you pay, this place is not worth it. The Apollo across the road is a much better option!

I came in with my boyfriend for my birthday dinner. The sommelier didn’t look me in the eyes or talk to me once after my partner ordered a bottle for us. He only explained the wine to him and took my empty glass away when there was still a full glass left in the bottle. I felt incredibly disrespected. After our mains I asked to see the wine list, he brought it over and then never saw the sommelier again. I think his name was Randy or Ronald. Awful behaviour. We sat for a long time before a waiter came and took the wine list away without checking if we didn’t want to order anything. I have never had such a sexist restaurant experience. No one ever mentioned my birthday. No food complaints.

The fit out is very impressive and one that attracts the young and beautiful. The staff and quite a large number are also young and beautiful. We were a party of 5 celebrating my birthday. The noise level is high which made hearing difficult. We shared entrees a fabulous marinated tuna and a wagyu cappacio excellent dishes. I had a crab and prawn pasta which was very nice but not outstanding John Dory was good but again not special four of us had these dishes and the fifth one had the steak and frites which he declared to be very good. For dessert we had a large tart tattine a passion fruit soufflé and an affogatto. The tart was a little over cooked and a tad too sweet. The soufflé was fine except served with a hard brittle like disc and popcorn ice cream which didn't enhance the dish. Whilst I didn't pay the bill the prices on the menu were on the high side. The service was good but towards the end of the night 5 or 6 of the staff were clustered around the bar area chatting not a good look. I would go back if I were invited but not necessarily my first pick.

I have eaten here 4 times. Part of a couple and part of a larger group. Nothing disappointed. The food was impeccably presented and the taste and quality matched accordingly. The service is really outstanding and leaves you feeling like a VIP . The ambiance is cool and classy with the booth seating being my favorite choice. It is truly a top class restaurant with a marvelous selection of food and beverages. Well done Franca!

We celebrated a birthday in the private dining room. From the moment we arrived, the wonderful staff were extremely attentive, in particular Alex, who looked after us so well! We enjoyed the banquet menu and it consisted of a well balanced and generous selection of seafood, chicken, steak and sides. We could not fault the entire experience and the combination of outstanding food, service and ambience is definitely worth coming back for!!! Thank you Franca for bringing old world charm and modern glam to dining!! Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Great experience at this beautiful place. The decor is great and the vibe is really good. Both service and food were great. I highly recommend the toothfish. Prices are on the high side and perhaps 5 to 10% more than they should but they provide a great experience.

Food was excellent! Steak and sides are just delicious. Take some ear plugs as the space is very loud. To the point where you can’t hear the person next you. The biggest disappointment was the price of the wine. It’s obscenely expensive. To the point where you’re offended by it. When a $40 wine at Dan Murphy’s is $180 a bottle, knowing that they haven’t paid retail it just takes the shine off it.
