It was an evening of hits and misses. We were a group of 7 and had a prior reservation and they tried to seat us at a bar table with stools (this was not conveyed at time of reservation). As one of our party had an injury they accommodated us quickly at a table despite being quite busy. Our waiter... More

We went for a special occasion dinner....all very excited. The tapas was great, very tasty and good sized portions. The service, however, was a real let down. Not that the staff were rude.....they were actually quite pleasant if you could manage to attract their attention, but they all running around like headless chooks looking very busy, and that meant they... For a long time I have lamented the lack of quality Spanish tapas restaurants in Sydney. Then I tried Subsolo. Descending to the basement, off the King St entrance, the subdued lighting and exposed brickwork created just the right ambiance. The Spanish wait staff added to the experience, and I got to practice a little of my rudimentary speaking skills.... More

We had a great meal here last night. We can highly recommend the set menu options (we took option 2), $75/head) which gave us a wonderful range of beautifully cooked and presented Spanish dishes. These were accompanied by a great range of wines which complimented the food perfectly. Our waiter was fantastic and was attentive without intrusion, explained the food... More

My partner and I met up with an old friend at Subsolo on a Saturday night in September. We booked ahead but even later on there were a few spare tables so a walk up is worth a go. Over the night there were a range of diners - large groups (20+), groups of friends (10+), families, couples, first dates...... More

We went to Subsolo for the first time last Saturday. It was time we wanted to try something new. We love Spanish food & it was the perfect choice. Subsolo is located at Sydney CBD. The location is downstairs & it's okay if you can get a good parking spot. It's okay if you live in the CBD, you can... More

Wanted an early meal after a matinee at The State Theatre on a saturday night. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was buzzy and fun. Great tapas including albondigas (spanish meatballs), cod croquettes & paella. Sangria by the (large) glass ($15); took us by surprise that there were no jugs of sangria, however this did prevent us from having a... More

Decided last min on a Saturday night we wanted tapas and were staying in the city. Google lead us to Subsolo and it was packed. With no reservation they moved a couple people around to fit us in at the bar which was ao cool of them. We drank cocktails that were amazing and the staff never left us waiting... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
