We went to Subsolo for the first time last Saturday. It was time we wanted to try something new. We love Spanish food & it was the perfect choice. Subsolo is located at Sydney CBD. The location is downstairs & it's okay if you can get a good parking spot. It's okay if you live in the CBD, you can... More

Wanted an early meal after a matinee at The State Theatre on a saturday night. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was buzzy and fun. Great tapas including albondigas (spanish meatballs), cod croquettes & paella. Sangria by the (large) glass ($15); took us by surprise that there were no jugs of sangria, however this did prevent us from having a... More

Decided last min on a Saturday night we wanted tapas and were staying in the city. Google lead us to Subsolo and it was packed. With no reservation they moved a couple people around to fit us in at the bar which was ao cool of them. We drank cocktails that were amazing and the staff never left us waiting... More

After a solid recommendation from the Primus hotel, a booking was made. Unfortunately when we arrived there was no record of the booking. However the staff were able to accommodate us. We started off with two tapas. The staff recommended a really nice Spanish red wine similar to a Pinot noir. Wine went down really well. Then we went on... More

As a semi-regular (every 6 weeks or so) it is a good reliable place for those 'catch-up' meetings. Good variety of Tapas and BBQ (skewers) for the meat eaters. Usually, we go for the beef + chicken or pork&chorizo that comes with a garden style + chips side. Reasonable Spanish wine list and even the cheapest red ($39) is more... More

This wine and tapas bar/restaurant oozes warmth from the moment you enter. Lively atmosphere without feeling crowded, the wine selection was impressive and the portions generous. A little on the expensive side, but nothing extravagant.

Excellent Spanish food, the paella was well cooked and plentiful. We had the $80 set menu with the lot and it was more than enough. Thank you!

We were looking for a place to dine before a concert on a Saturday night. No booking. Walked in off the street to a seductive warm, cosy seductive space. Friendly greeting. Professional service. Wine selection very good and something for everyone. The calamari tasted good, but wasnt very hot or crispy. Haloumi + mushrooms tasty and yum. Spanish meatballs -... More

Excellent food & great wine. Our waiter was very helpful with wine selection & decanted it for us. Tapas size dishes, but plenty of mains to choose from as well. The mushrooms were delicious.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
