Always a favourite of ours when feeling like Japanese either alone or with visiting friends. Service is very prompt, we hardly ever wait more than 5 - 10 minutes for the meals to arrive. Very tasty and good size serves.

Our night began by waiting 2 hours for the chef to even arrive in our private dining room (with a party of young, tired & hungry children). We had a 6pm booking, and were not eating until 830pm. The wait staff then managed to stuff the up quantities and portions for every protein course. The chef himself had no showmanship... More

On the Saturday night we went, they ran out of sushi rice (!). Sashimi was stale. Chicken was very ordinary, Manager was very unhelpful. Staff were apologetic. Miso soup was the only good dish. Cannot recommend.

I went to what was the Wasabi Restaurant in Dickson, it is now called something else (under new management). The chef was not very talkative throughout, his sense of humour was very short, and his entertainment was to fling a full omelet, pieces of egg at me, which ended up all over my clothes, in my hair and on the... We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Shogun, the service was friendly and efficient and the food delicious. The prices are moderate. You can choose to sit at a Western style table or a traditional Japanese pit table. The adventurous can sit at the BBQ and enjoy the show. The house sake was very subtle. The entrée soy beans, octopus... More

For Japanese BBQ in Canberra city this is the place to go. The menu is moderately priced, and there is no problem with the quality. The chefs don't go for the extraverted showmanship (unless you want it) so you don't have to worry about getting egg on your face.

This really nice moderate sized restaurant is located upstairs in the Garema Center in Canberra's CBD. We were glad we explored the site as from the street it is most unimpressive, only a sign to lead you upstairs. We guess regular customers know of it, as it was quite busy. The range and quality of food was first rate and... More

I went there for lunch and the gyoza were underwhelming however the okonomiyaki was above average. The Yakima soba was tasty yet salty

I love going to the Shogun in my lunch hour. The service is always quick and the food is amazing! (Try the lunch bento plate!) I have taken friends and relatives to the Shogun on countless occasions, and we are always extremely happy. The temppanyaki is so fun and delicious!
