Had a lovely lunch here with family recently. The menu has recently been changed and there appears to be something for all dietary requirements. The pumpkin salad was delicious. Servings are of good size and prices reasonable. I was really glad to see they sell local Canberra wines. If going for lunch, I recommend getting there a bit early to... More

Refurbished in recent years with great indoor and also lake facing outdoor seating the Bookplate is almost a Canberra institution for those who use or visit the National Library. There are always interesting free exhibitions at the Library as well as a large fabulous free magazine reading room. Located on the northeast corner of the ground floor the Bookplate has... More

I had breakfast here to avoid the overpriced stuff they serve up in the hotel I was staying at. Had some poached eggs and a couple of coffees. The cafe has delightful surroundings, with the lovely Leonard French windows. Service was pretty good, considering how busy they were. No complaints about the meal, would dine there again.

In summary - coffee's good, there are better places for food & service at other locations around the lake. So - the location is great - The National Library near Canberra's central Lake Burley Griffin. Inside is cosy enough with no view but nice stain glass windows; and most people will struggle outside in a Canberra winter. The service was... More

Good lunch restaurant in the National a Library. Can get busy, but OK on weekdays out of holiday time. Lunches good price, and attractive and tasty. Espressos after the meal poor and pricy. Recommend chimichanga.

Bookplate served me fritters that were raw inside and inedible. I didn't have time to allow them to provide a replacement dish on the spot, so went hungry and was given a verbal assurance that I could have a free identical dish on my next visit. On my next visit I requested the same dish and explained my previous experience... More

Although they don't do table service (I so hate when Cafes don't do this) it was a reasonable experience once I got a car park. Service was quick, coffee acceptable and the pastries very fresh ....

What a great café to have within a library setting. Comfortable food in a great setting. It is very enriching to be able to hold a conversation, dine and not be troubled with too many individuals paying more attention to their phones than each other. Just a fantastic place with great food.

Today in the Bookplate café I was delighted to find friendly staff, a beautiful renovation including comfortable chairs (the others were too high), and delicious coffee and Danish pastry. I highly recommend sitting near the stained glass windows on a sunny morning. There was a bad spot last year when service was unfriendly and the water containers were sitting on... More

We have dined at the Bookplate cafe/restaurant often and always enjoyed the atmosphere and meals. Most recently was our first visit since their re opening after some renovation work. The new look is lovely! Fresh, contemporary yet warm and inviting. Disappointing though was the breakfast menu which consists of half a dozen choices most being variations on eggs! A natural...
