We were in Newark for one night and needed somewhere to eat that was family friendly. I did some research and the Prince Rupert website said they were family friendly and indeed they were. We arrived at 6pm when evening food is served and the staff were very accommodating, sorting out a space for us which fitted a pushchair and... More

Lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent. Was told there would be an hours wait as they were very busy but in fact it was more like half an hour :)

Its obviously changed hands from the last time I went there. Different staff. Not so attentive and my lord, pricey too. The food was quite nice which is good. However it used to be excellent and the service. The pizza's come in way over priced by the time you have put the standard amount of toppings on compared to other... More

Great British pub! Lots of sections to sit in and enjoy. Food is great - probably best British meal we've had during our 2 week visit. Came before in the winter so menu was different this time. Very enjoyable.

Really nice place to eat or drink. The character of the building is everywhere and the real ales are spot on

Love to take family to Newark for a stroll - bit of culture and lunch. My dad (64) and Grandad (90) love this place and the food has never let me down. Love the building, love the range on offer and the staff are nice too. The ploughmans was brilliant, the other two had lighter bites which were still generous.... More

After always being treated lovely and having great food I have been put off returning. We arrived at 3pm and as we started ordering drinks and asked whether we could have food they said only if you have something easy as we have stopped service. We then started choosing after a bar member went to check with the kitchen staff... More

popped in for a meal at teatime, they start cooking at 7pm but was worth the wait. Hubby had corn-beef hash and i had chicken fricassee all presented beautifully and tasted amazing, will be taking friends next time to share the experience.
