well how do i put this review into words, well lets start its the worst roast beef and Yorkshire pud meal i have ever had in my 64 years on this planet and being from the UK i had a few and i even cook...them for my family,the Chef(term used lightly as this person has never did any training)and has probably never had a good Yorkshire pudding in his life!! the peas where black where they been left in the pan tooooooooooooooo long, the new potatoes where not cooked inside,the gravy was like a concrete mix and well the beef who ever is supplying it wants shooting and the buyer for restaurant needs to take some training on the basic of buying meat,and lastly the Yorkshire pud i could have used it to lift my car up instead of my car ramps how can you get something so wrong,so here is how you make and cook it,add 4 oz of plain flour, a pinch of salt,some milk and water mixed so you end with a good thickish batter,heat oven to 220c-230 place a Yorkshire pudding tin in the oven with lard or duck fat in the compartments and get it up to the oven temp and should be light smoke coming of the tin,just before you put the mixture into the tin pop in some sparkling water into the mix add the mixture quickly so oven does not loose it heat shut door turn oven down to 210 and dont open again till the Yorkshire have risen!!!wallah perfect Yorkshires,now for the rest watch jamie or James martin on how to cook beef,i thought the pub looked empty at 6.30 on a Sunday night and now i can see why!!!!i wont be eating here again for a long time and normally i take 6- 8 people on a regular so lift your game ,i must say the waiter that served me was superb and its a shame he had to put out such crap!!!!More

My partner and I came here expecting standard pub fare so we weren’t expecting anything overly fancy but what we got was disappointing. The staff were friendly and did a great job but the food was really disappointing. I had the lamb shank, flavourless and...swimming in a pool of tomato juice, the vegetables were shrivelled and we were not informed the carb portion was unavailable so we were given a bowl of chips each which we didn’t want. We would appreciate being told so we could have chosen different mains. My partner’s “southern man steak” was cut up for him (yikes) so a bit cold and dry when it got to us. The food really left a lot to be desired and despite the staff being lovely, we aren’t in a hurry to dine there again. Seems like a good place to go for drinks and something to pick at but not so much a quality meal out, from our experience.More

We were 2 families with young kids looking forward to the "Kids eat free" on Tuesday nights special. We have been before for this deal and eaten here on many other occasions, with families, with friends and for work nights out. I have never had...an issue before and always enjoyed the experience. Tonight was truly terrible. We all ordered our meals at the same time. The waiter read our order back to us. So far, so good. The waiter brought me the wrong wine, and I asked him to get me the right one, which he did. Not a huge problem. Our mains arrived, except for one beef burger. We were told it would be out soon. Two of the children's meals were not quite what we ordered, we sent one back and lived with the other one. The kids beef burger was tiny, the size of a meatball. My pad thai noodles were undercooked and unpleasant to eat, so I left them. Twenty minutes later, still no sign of the missing burger. I go to talk to the manager and find another family in front of me, complaining about being charged for their kids meals. Apparently the deal has changed to Monday nights, but the website still says Tuesdays. They had phoned in advance to check and were told it was Tuesday. The manager apologized and removed the meals from the bill. I complained to the manager about the missing meal. He said he would talk to the kitchen. A few minutes later, a chicken burger arrived at our table. My friend sent it back as it wasn't what he ordered. The service had been patchy all night - no one checked if our meals were ok, we had to ask repeatedly for water refills, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. So we decided to leave. The manager didn't charge us for our kids meals or my pad thai (which the chef said was cooked al dente! Pasta is cooked al dente, thai noodles are meant to be soft and translucent). My husband's steak was fine, so we paid for that and the drinks. We asked the manager what has changed since our last visit a few weeks ago. He said a lot of staff have left and the new ones still need more training. I also noticed that the menu has shrunk from huge to a handful of choices. In these Covid times, restaurants need to do better to retain regular customers.More
