This place used to be very good (we have visited many times over the years), however standard of food is well down, reception by staff poor, toilets (Gents) disgusting, owners don't care. It had great reviews in national press (and deserved them), but afraid this must have gone to head and they have massively taken their eye off the ball.... More

After the pilgrimage from Craster on a gorgeous September day, any beer and sandwich would taste good. Their own beer surpassed expectations and well worth the walk. As for the food, well it was OK but choose carefully. The toasties are tiny and guaranteed to leave you hungry. We never got chance to sample the crab as they didn't have... More

The pub is in a lovely position which brings in the crowds. We walked from Craster so were looking forward to lunch and a pint. We both ordered crab sandwiches, nothing special, crabmeat on wholemeal bread, no side salad or crisps. Wouldn't hurry back maybe the evening meals are better.

So much to enjoy when visiting Low Newton but the Ship Inn is a must if you want to sample good food and drink plus entertainment on certain nights - however book to reserve a table well in advance. Place is small and rustic but the Lobster and Crab we eat were cooked perfectly with a good choice of local... More

Service dreadful from the off!!Young guy behind the bar,we were sixth in the queue whilst a customer was deciding which bottled beers to take home,manager/owner faffing about totally ignored the growing queue,we ordered our drinks and sat outside. We have recommended this place to friends but when you look the place is tatty and dirty, tables are shabby and need a coat... Visited after an atmospheric walk along the beach from Craster on a day dense with mist (haar for the locals) in which we could barely make out the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle even when upon them. Despite the weather, this place was packed, inside and out. Expecting a long wait, we managed to find a shared table and promptly enjoyed... More

Stopped here for a sandwich and a pint. Got our order just in time, 2 o'clock. Sat outside so didn't mind waiting. Toasted Ciabatta with Stilton & pear very good, toasted ham & cheese sandwich was also very good, both came with side salad.

Great for food, meals, atmosphere and all things coastal. What you would like to expect from a typical seaside pub on a beautiful shoreline. This is Northumberlands answer to (and works well) Padstow, North Norfolk, Whistable etc. Book in advance if you need a table for dinner even in the off season. This is a reflection of it's success.

Second visit for lunch to this little gem in 12 months. The Ship is a perfect place to stop off for lunch or a drink when walking the glorious Northumberland coast On both our visits the weather has been glorious so not surprisingly the place is packed but somehow it doesn't matter & just adds to the experience, walkers & dogs... Called for lunch after a 10 mile walk, had to sit on grass as no seats, 20 min wait at bar then another 30 wait for food , the beer and food are great and because it's the only pub within miles around it is very busy but worth the wait, dog friendly , beautiful location, great views, a must...
