Superb location for drinks or meal before/after or during a walk along the coast. Friendly service and good beer. Evening meal was excellent - highly recommended. Best to book as very popular.

The Ship's perfect location, tucked away in a corner of the small square just 50 yards from the lovely beach at Low Newton, makes this an immensely popular pub for much of the year. While there is seating outside, this is obviously not an option in inclement weather, so anyone wishing to dine here in the evening (and, with food... More

When a party of 10 walk in to a pub and five of them are under 5, you expect alarm bells to start ringing. This place couldn't have been better - from a handy clip-on high chair to food ready in a flash (but still delicious) - I couldn't find fault with the Ship Inn at all. This is a... More

As you can not book for lunch, we turned up sharp. The menu for lunch is rather restricted, but with something for everyone. Service was prompt, and just as well: quickly, a long queue formed to place orders. The food was tasty and well presented. Well behaved dogs are allowed which is nice.

Called in for lunch with six children, a dog and five adults and found the inn quite busy. Ordered drinks and lunch and assumed that we would have to keep the younger children happy while we waited for a while for the food to be prepared. Pleasantly surprised when the food came quite quickly which suggested a very organized kitchen..The... More

This pub is super busy all year round and that is testament to a great pub. A great place to refuel after enjoying the Northumberland Coastal path walks. Make sure you stop in for a nice pint of ale or a cuppa to recharge the batteries before heading off.

Beautiful Character filled pub with really good food and drink. Small and hidden we were surprised to find it packed around the new year time so once we had a table we stayed a fair while. Unfortunately it is a victim of its own success and there were queues of locals and tourists 10-12 long waiting to be served but... More

We have been to the ship inn many times, always great beer and food. Can get very busy in summer and on weekends. We'll be back again soon After reading other reviews about the size of the menu and no crab, the crab is locally caught if they don't catch many the ship then won't have a lot. Same with... More

Only called into the ship for a coup,e of quick drinks whilst in the area. For the hour we spent in here the queue to the bar never stopped and food orders were constant. Never had the opportunity to try any food but it certainly looked very good. A friend said the Guinness was the nicest he had tasted in... More
