This is what a pub should be like..... cosy, friendly, beer brewed on premises and wonderful hearty food. We had read the reviews but nothing prepared us for the beautiful smell of smoked fish as we entered. Had a wonderful walk to the castle and back for another pint. Lovely way to spend an afternoon

Called after walk on beach tried to get a seat had to step over about 4 dogs to get there and what a look we got from dog owners as if to say how dare you step over my dog ,it had been raining so the smell of wet animals was over powering quick pint and out

As we did not eat here on this occasion I can only comment on the overall comfortable and welcoming feel of the place. Whilst it may be cliched, I love stone floors and big wooden tables/benches etc - it just feels "holiday" The setting within a green boxed with buildings on 3 sides and adjacent to the beach in itself... Only 3 beers on yesterday so I didn't have to get tipsy to try them all. They were all gorgeous too. This is a lovely pub, with brilliant views over the bay and dog friendly to boot. Nothing better than a long walk over the Northumberland countryside and then settling in for a good brew. I think they have got... More

The Ship Inn is a traditional coastal pub which has its own micro brewery selling superb ales. Lovely stone building with child and dog friendly(well behaved only) with a warm welcome. Coastal walkers abound. We went three times in a week to sample their beers. This pub is unpretentious and one of a kind. We loved it.

It's a traditional pub in a fantastic location, the menu is small but that makes sure the food is cooked good,Which it is.

We had read about the Ship Inn and weren't disappointed with the place or food...great!!! The place was crowded but seats seemed to become available quite quickly. We sat outside overlooking the village green and beach. Although the place was crowded our food came very quickly. The service was great.

Returned again to this wonderful pub by the sea. Yet again the food was up to an excellent standard, home cooked, simply but beautifully presented. "The Butcher of Bamburgh", sounds like a villain in a play, yet, along with chef in the kitchen turned out to be the joint hero in the main performance of a beautifully cooked rib eye... More

Lots of people come to this pub so weekends are very busy - you need to queue outside the door before it opens either to get into the pub or to grab a bench outside! Coming late afternoon is better as you can get a seat inside then. The pub does its own beers, which vary. The lunchtime food menu... More
