We arrived after quite a drive from Marigot (avoid going through Castle Bruce, it's probably the worst quality road on the island with lots of big holes in it) and I think just expected a bit more; especially after we have been recommended Riverside Cafe...from others while in Dominica and had a chance to eat at quite a few places around the island by the time we stopped at the Cafe. Though the grounds and the restaurant are beautiful and we somewhat enjoyed the food (I loved my onion pie but my better half wasn't crazy about hers, we simply had many other better meals while in Dominica with all due respect to Riverside Cafe), I can't say the same about the cocktails; the Ti Punch is "you make it yourself" which is whatever you make it of course goes for me :) but the other colorful cocktail was, despite super pretty in appearance, probably the worst cocktail I had on the island - it was just soo much of sweet syrup? that it was impossible to finish it :( FYI This is the area of the island that is not as popular with tourists and thus there is not that much information on what to do here/where to go from here except maybe for things up north (Emerald Pool, Kalinago Territory and some other waterfalls around); that being said if you are staying in the north of the island the drive to Riverside is pretty long and tiresome; make sure to avoid the road through Castle Bruce and take the Nicholas Hwy! If you stay in the area then I would visit it more often and spend more time (we did spend almost 2h just to be clear as this is an island time place so if you expect quick meal you may want to go somewhere else) but to drive here just for the meal we ate was simply not worth the effort and would have not done it the same way the second time. TIP: if you have a car with low/passenger type of suspension you may consider parking outside/on the main road - there are water canals going through the property in numerous spots by the time you park at the restaurant and with an SUV I was very careful not to damage it - this is not the road condition I am talking about but the actual little cement ridges in the ground for water to flow FYI driving a passenger car from any spot of the island is perfectly fine, just park outside I sayMore

Whenever we have visitors from overseas, the Riverside Cafe is always on top of the list to visit. Where else could you have a nice lunch (in particular the lionfish), a glass of wine and a choise of lovely desserts in the midst of a...tropical environment, served by the most hospitable people? And you could have a riverbath as a bonus, as well. Our children love it. Relax and enjoy!More

We had an amazing time at this spot! We arrived without a reservation, which they DON'T recommend but they accommodated us. We were a bit early for dinner so we had some lovely drinks while taking a swim in the river for about an hour....Dinner was awesome and it's a super cute spot!More

One lunch and one birthday supper at this beautiful place. It is a magical spot in the trees with a clear river tumbling over white rocks. The food is very good and the staff kind and helpful. I was told by a guest that the...cottages are beautiful, although I did not see them.More

The Cafe usually has 2 or 3 small and 2 or 3 full size options per evening, as well as several deserts and a nice assortment of cocktails and other drinks. The cuisine is all fresh and local, and the lionfish fillets are particularly good....Suzanne makes the chocolate mousse herself, and it is not to be missed! And the local Belo coffee is strong and delicious.More

If you are going to Dominica, you must come here! Riverside Cafe is a charming little restaurant that provides filling, healthy meals. My husband and I went here after hiking a few trails and left feeling energized. I had a banana smoothie (amazing!) and a...garden salad which was delicious. Aside from the food being great, the view is fantastic. My husband and I were the only patrons for lunch so we felt like we were in our own oasis. Photos do not do this charming restaurant justice!More

We stayed at Citrus Creek and ate at the cafe on our last night. Food was delicious, we had the fish creole and caramel pork and both were great. Also a lovely place to sit and have a cocktail of an afternoon, as the name...suggests it is right by the river and is beautiful.More

We stumbled on this beautiful restaurant after a long drive and what a delight! The location is amazing with a clear blue river by the side of the restaurant, an array of wildlife (lizards, fish, birds etc) to keep you entertained, good music and tasteful...décor. We were warmly welcomed and talked through the menu - the staff were friendly and keen to make sure we had everything we needed. We went on to enjoy some delicious, freshly made food and freshly squeezed juices. It was just a shame we arrived a bit late in the day so we didn't have time to enjoy a dip in the river!More
