My lamb was good but veg seemed tired. Service friendly but a little slow. Hot inside barn like restaurant. A bit pricey. Lovely setting. Turned loud muzak off when we asked. Why do posh restaurants like this think we need intrusive pop music?

Although a bit off the beaten track, the setting of this restaurant is lovely. Set in the old stables, it retains many original features. A warm welcome by the staff was followed up with superb food and wine. Would thoroughly recommend.

We had a large family gathering and were very well looked after by the wonderful friendly waitress. Drinks outside in the lovely courtyard followed by a wonderful meal. All of our dishes were beautifully presented and full of flavour, whether it was scallops, steak , chicken or lamb all cooked to perfection. Great menu and fabulous puddings including the most... Returned to this restaurant, after having a pleasant meal some weeks ago. Unfortunately, this time it did not score high as it did before. I had a very good creamed pesto and blue cheese gnocchi, where my partner had a somewhat overcooked pan fired pigeon breast. For mains, my partner requested rare sirloin steak. Unfortunately, it came up medium, to... More

We enjoyed a quick stop here for lunch while visiting friends in Suffolk. The pub and restaurant occupies an old stable block in quaint surroundings. There are holiday cottages around the grounds too. Our lunch was good and well presented. Pub favourites like Steak & Ale Pie, Fish Pie as well as more adventurous offerings. We sat on the terrace... We were about to leave Suffolk after a lovely weekend away from the City. With an empty stomach and a reluctance to leave the lush planes of Suffolk, it was recommended that we experience the delights of ‘The Dark Horse’. What a great suggestion. A reception so country-like, I swear they converted stables to replace with an appointment book and... More

Located in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, the old stables have been sensitively converted and still retain much of the old grandeur of stalls and cobbles. The main restaurant is light and airy with access to outside courtyard for summer lunches and evening dining. The menu is interesting and imaginative and offers great tastes and decent sized portions. The owners and... More

We tried the Dark Horse for the first time last night as we live near-by. A very enjoyable evening! Quaint setting in the converted stable block and there is outside seating in the courtyard at the front and the back which will be very nice in the summer! The food was beautifully prepared and presented and my sea bass was... More
